  • I reported this issue a while back and the same record keeps randomly appearing. I tried validating my file and it says it found a damaged transaction (this problem one) and suggests deleting. I do and eventually it reappears in my register for that account.
  • note I am now on R35.31 Build

Trying to find the validation log file with the message to share
Look in %APPDATA%\Quicken\Log for a file named DATA_LOG.TXT
[EDIT - sorry, I didn't notice I was responding to an old post.]

  • thank you. It was a new update from an old post because i am still living it. I will try your suggestion
  • datalog says it repaired transaction (like it always does except there should be no transaction to repair because i delated it. Seems like there is a problem in the data file itself that validation and repair cannot resolve.

Does the data log after Validate give you any hints as to what kind of a transaction it repaired?
Or do you have any idea what this bad transaction actually looks like in your register or scheduled reminders or memorized payee list view?
Perhaps an image snapshot of the error message and/or the suspected bad transaction will give us a clue ...
You can also try adding a new transaction with a (slightly) different Payee Name before you delete the suspected bad transaction (I'm trying to make Quicken store the replacement transaction in a different sector of the database, away from the bad transaction's area)
  • i did add a new transaction before deleting the old. Happy to share a pic of it. it stays deleted for a few days and then like a zombie quicken brings it back. I can easily delete again but just a pain.

this is msg in repair log
Quicken repaired some transaction information. No action required.
"Venmo" 2/12/2021 "Morgan" "Paid Insureance HSA for hospital"
  • separately in same log there is this msg related to same transaction. Of course i delete as recommended until the next zombie transaction appears

The following transaction(s) involving transfers appear to be damaged.
You should delete them and recreate as appropriate.

Account Venmo: 2/12/2021 Morgan [Due to Morgan] $999.99

Are you using Sync to Mobile?  If yes, turn it off and delete the cloud dataset.  The damaged transaction is getting "re-synced" to your desktop from your mobile cloud data.
  • sync to mobile is (and has been ) off. my mobile and web tab shows the 3 easy steps to setting it up. It was on at one point months ago but i removed it. I can look for remanant files if you tell me where .
