Do I need to upgrade?

I am using Quicken Deluxe 2016 offline. My laptop crashed so I put in a new hard drive and reloaded all my software. Quicken loads but when I try to open the file it wants me to sign into my Intuit account. When I try to sign in it doesn't recognize my password so if I say I forgot password it takes me to a screen that says site cant be reached. Any words of wisdom? Can I continue to use my current version or am I being forced to upgrade? I do not use any of the online features. Thanks in advance

You need to patch your QW2016 to use the newer Quicken ID instead of the obsolete Intuit ID. Go here, download and run the latest mondo patch.

Quicken user since version 2 for DOS, now using QWin Premier Subscription on Win10 Pro.

Thanks. I tried to download patch and here is the error message I get:

    SmartPatch.exe-system error
The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP120.Dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.

    Thoughts?

You need to download and install the 32-bit version of this C++ redistributable:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

EDIT the x86 version is the 32-bit version.

Look at the very first answer from @Rocket J Squirrel.  You need to switch from the Intuit ID to your Quicken ID.  The latest patch will do that.

Create a new administrator account and install the patch using it.

Good point.  Also I will mention that the account can be local, it doesn't have to be connected to an email address.
