Does this message refer to "Quicken 2004" as the conversion tool?If so, a critical control record in your Quicken data file has been damaged beyond repair.
You need to restore your Quicken data file from a Manual or Automatic Backup taken prior to the problem first occurring, if necessary going back to older backups until you find a file that does not exhibit these symptoms.

The file was last used on Jul 1, so it is not a 2004 file, and no conversion tool was specified in the error message. Unfortunately older backups do not restore either0

Hello @DXS
Thank you for letting us know more about the issue and the additional information. I'm wondering if the program might not be working correctly if you're not able to load any form of backup either. To see if this might be the case lets start off by seeing if we might be able to get the program working properly by installing a mondo patch. This will reinstall the latest patch which should hopefully allow us to open the file. I'll leave a link down below.
Update and Mondo Patch: Subscription Release of Quicken for Windows
Once you've installed the mondo patch let us know if you're able to get your files open again. If not we'll see what steps we can take next.
Thanks,

There may be a small subset of files that react poorly to the recent updates.
