Tagging investment transactions

Investment accounts transactions should have the ability to be tagged like bank accounts do. I have a checking-linked investment account and the inability to tag those payments makes reporting by tag less valuable!

If your investing account has a linked checking account, you can add tags to your transactions. If the Tag column is not displayed in the linked account, click on the gear at the top right, pick Register columns, and check the Tag box.
Also in investing accounts that do not have linked checking accounts, you can enter tags for cash transactions by putting a slash (/) after the Category and entering the tag.QWin Premier subscription1 -
Adding '/<tag>' to the category works find when done to a particular transaction but how do you do it to a whole bunch of transactions. I tried selecting a bunch of transactions from a report and recategorized those (this time adding '/<tag>' to the category) but that doesn't work (only the category part seems to be changed this way, the tag is dropped). I have 1000s of transactions in my investment accounts I need to tag. It is a bit tedious to add the tag to each transactions individually...0

I couldn't find a way to do this in bulk either. The obvious way, opening an "Itemized Tags" report, selecting transactions, and choosing "Retag Transactions" from the context menu, did not change the transactions' tags. This idea gets my vote, but the failure of Retag to do anything makes this more of a bug report.

Depending on the type of transaction, you might try generating a BANKING Transaction report specifying the correct INVESTMENT accounts and other details. Therein, select multiple (appropriate) transactions and choose the Edit button, Retag option.
I believe only investment transactions that can include a category would be able to have a tag applied.
