Problems loading Quicken for Windows

Good afternoon, after the recent updates, I have had many problems loading the app on my computer. It just won't open. Then after many minutes, I have a smal Window asking me to either report the problem to Microsoft or wait for the file to open.
Either one I choose, nothing happens. It took me 4 tries to open this time. More than half an hour to open my file...
I was wondering if the updates cause these problems or if something else is happening.
Please pardon my English since I am French speaking from Quebec.

    Your English is perfect.

    It sounds like Quicken is crashing at startup.  I suggest you use this procedure to get a good uninstall and then reinstall Quicken.

  • Hey thank you very much. It now takes less than a minute to open my big file.
    I am surely one of the oldest user of Q, I found it on my first computer in 1991 (a PS1) and have used it since.

    Hi Chris,

    The solution lasted 2 weeks. It is back to its old self.
    The last window that opens is "calculating investments values" and it freezes there.
    It is true that I have investmens in Q since 1993.

    Can you see if another solution is possible ?

    About the only other thing is trying Validate & Repair.
    File -> Validate and Repair File... -> Validate File -> OK (Note you might find it on the File -> File Operations menu)

    EDIT if you can't get started you can try holding down Ctrl+Shift when double clicking on the Quicken Desktop shortcut to start without loading the data file and they you can do the Validate & Repair.  If even that doesn't allow you to get Quicken to start I would contact Quicken Support.  Note if you log into your account on Quicken.com there should be a number at the top of that for Quicken Support.  Here is the regular contact page: http://quicken.com/contact-support

    After writing to you, I did a Validate and Repair file, and I checked every item. It basically didn't find any errors but here is the log file :smile:

    Other things you might try.  If using VPN turn it off.  Same for anti-virus software (just as a test).

    If that isn't it about the only thing left is Quicken Support.
