Quicken QDF file doubled in size - but manual backup is original size

Just noticed this... my QDF file and the auto backups have doubled in size the last couple of days.... from 200MB to 500MB - no changes, no attachments, nothing - running R37.37 -
However, the manual backup is retaining the original size of 200MB.
It's not so much about the two different types of backups and the implied programming...
But rather - how or why did the QDF double in size ?
I just restored from the manual backup, opened it up, closed it, and it is bck to 200MB.
Will try to monitor...

Just remember that the size of the QDF cited in the top image is not the same QDF shown in the bottom image.  The top image is showing the size of the QDF that is zipped inside of the QDF shown in the bottom image.
I have not seen any difference in my file sizes, running R37.25 (Win10) & R37.66 (Win11).

    My point was that …
187MB is my normal internal size,
closer to the external 217MB file size
vs the 507MB file size anomaly.

Here is what the 500kMB QDF backup file looks like - with 7-zip -
The same numbers as the live QDF file and the other 200kMB QDF backup files....
Weird - so where did the 300kMB bubble come from to create a 500kMB QDF ?

That's 500Mb not K. The 7-zip file doesn't add up to anywhere near 500Mb so what's up with that. Almost looks like you opened the smaller file with 7-zip.

    oops - yeah - I just see the 507,000 KB :)
Opened all the various files with 7-zip.... all showed the same internal "normal" numbers...

I wouldn't expect any.  They are checking the data files, not the "compressed container", which is increased in size of some reason.  My guess at "some reason" would be a write error.  But it is in an area of the compressed file that is being ignored.
