Quicken loads to screen and crashes

Beginning 4.27, when I try to load quicken, the screen almost appears and then it fails and I receive a Quicken Crash Report screen. I have spoken to a Quicken rep for 3 hours and he could not fix it. Best Buy sent a rep who has tried two days now to get Quicken to work, including deleting the program, reinstalling and then even resetting the computer. Any ideas? Please.

If Quicken will open while you press the Ctrl key, I suggest you select File > Find Quicken Files... and locate a Quicken file or Quicken file backup that Quicken may open.  Otherwise, select File > Validate and Repair File... and attempt to have Quicken attempt to repair the corrupted Quicken files.  If you haven't already, you may want to review: https://help.quicken.com/display/WIN/Troubleshoot+a+damaged+Quicken+data+file

I tried opening holding down the control key. The main screen appeared for maybe two seconds and then closed and a Quicken Crash Report screen appeared. On Wednesday, a Quicken support person in Guatemala spent a couple of hours tryin to figure this out with screen sharing and never could do so. This is very frustrating. Thank you for your response. I wish it had worked.

@Jlarry.vaughn - Where is your Quicken data file located?  If you did locate your file as @Sherlock suggested, that should tell you.  If it is on an external drive, in a cloud location, or a flash drive, that could cause issues you describe.

If you're not able to open Quicken while pressing the Ctrl key, I suggest you perform a clean uninstall, install, and update.  Normally, I would provide a link to the Quicken Support page on the topic however,  Quicken Support decided to archive the page mistakenly thinking it was no longer needed.  Here's a link to the page as saved on Internet Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20210510044051/https://www.quicken.com/support/using-qcleanui-uninstall-quicken
