To differentiate EFT's, On Line Payments, or any sort of personal category, it would be helpful to be able to assign a line item color or even just a column color for those specific groups for quick look-ups.

This doesn't address your color idea, but I'd just mention that you can use the Action column to denote EFTs, online payments, or any other distinctions you might want for different types of transactions. Then you could sort a register by the Action column, or Search for an Action, to quickly find those transactions.
