The New Dashboard is of Concern (Q Mac)

The new Dashboard looks interesting, but, for me, it is missing the most important info pane - Upcoming Bills & Income. This is of concern because there was a note that the current Overview screen is going to be discontinued.
This new Dashboard would be of great benefit if we could choose the info we wanted displayed.

@chucksav It seems apparent that the developers plan to migrate upcoming bills & income from the old Overview page to the new Dashboard page in a future release. That's why they're altering users that the Overview page will be removed int he future, but haven't yet removed it.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930

I've added my vote for Upcoming Bills and Income to be added to the Dashboard.0

No ability to edit or configure the dashboard is a failure. The exiting overview is better. Are there future plans to change this?0

@$Qkn$ What is it that you want to edit in the current implementation of the new Home Dashboard? You can change the order of the cards, but since there are only four of them, there's no real reason for resizing or hiding options. How is is a "fail" currently?
As they add more features — and the developers have made clear more cards are coming in future releases — then it would be appropriate to be able to have more configuration of the page.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930 -
@DocGer Exactly. More customization and more functionality are why the new Dashboard has been created. The old Overview page is a carry-over from the 2010 Quicken Essentials code which formed the base of the current Quicken Mac. Over time, the developers have been replacing some of the old technology (such as the original reports engine) with re-written code which adds features, customization, and future extensibility.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930

@DocGer I guess it's largely a matter of perspectiv,e and what features are at the top of your personal wish list.
You cited the investment dashboard for Windows, but omitted what happened when the similar feature was added to Quicken Mac. The Mac development team did not release it and ignore it; they made enhancements and tweaks to the investment dashboard over several releases to add more information -- including dealing with the timing of mutual fund updates. I thought all those changes made significant improvements to the initial release of the dashboard.
I'd expect to see a similar approach with this new Home dashboard. The product manager has indicated several more cards are coming in the next release, and welcomed input on what additional features users would like to see in the dashboard. They may not satisfy everyone, but this style of iterative development does often end up with a pretty solid feature set in the end.
The lack of an RMD/retirement account withdrawal feature is a significant hole in the product, to be sure. From my perspective, it's a more glaring need than the new home page dashboard. But other users have been asking for a customizable home page for years, too. We never get insight into the thinking of the development team and why they choose to work on feature A and not feature B. But I acknowledge that there are hundreds of feature requests, and certainly many dozens which are very worthwhile priorities. So I accept — not always happily — that progress is being made, but at a slower pace than any of us would like to see.Quicken Mac Subscription • Quicken user since 19930 -
Yes, I concur that I look forward to combining the old Overview with the new Dashboard. Then we should be able to move it around as we like and leave off things we don't need. One thing that bothers me right now is that Quicken counts transfers as spending so I get things like My Savings Bank as my number one payee. No My Credit Card is number one payee. My Savings Bank is just my transfers from checking to savings.
I'll look forward to the updates.Steve
