WAY too many keystrokes to accept transaction into register

Since Quicken breaks the renaming rules so often, I have to manually add categories.
1. Click on transaction
2. Click in category
3. Press paste (since I've already copied the category to the clipboard) This doesn't do anything because the category window is so slow to load
4. Press paste again
5. Press enter to accept the category
6. Press enter to accept the transaction
At a minimum, fix #3 so that whatever is pasted isn't lost.
