Problem with TIAA downloads

All my TIAA accounts download with errors (zero balances in some, incorrect entries in others) since 11/09/2022.
This appears to be a TIAA problem — when will it be fixed?

    Hello @CynCon,

I am sorry about these problems with online banking services. Thank you for asking about this here on the Quicken Community.

First, are you receiving any particular error codes when trying to update accounts, and if so, what kind? Are transactions simply missing after an update?

If the latter is the case, and you have the chance, you could save a backup by going to File > Copy or Backup File... in the upper menu at the top of the screen and then create a 'test' data file by going to the same menu and selecting New Quicken File... Next, choose New Quicken File in the screen that follows, and then click OK. After this, choose a file location on your computer and then click Save. Choose Don't use mobile and web when prompted.

You may then add your TIAA-associated accounts by navigating to the Add Account button in the upper left-hand side of the screen, denoted by the '+' symbol. Let us know if you see the same error message occurring in the test data file once this is attempted. One quick note: what 'instance' of TIAA are you selecting to link your accounts; what is the name of the bank that you are choosing when click on the options in the left-hand panel of the Add Account window after you search in the search bar?

I look forward to hearing about your results.

    Thank you,

    Quicken Jared

No error codes — just erroneous data from TIAA.
  • I am having the same issue. I download and I get a 0 balance on all of my accounts without an error message. This must be a problem with Quicken since my transactions are downloaded to Vanguard, Capital One etc without any problems.

TIAA says this is a Quicken problem as well.

Echoing these issues. Securities are not reporting properly.

This has been going on for two months and two monthly Quicken updates, and Quicken still is unwilling to address the problem by fixing what they broke.

I've been trying to download my data from TIAA since November. Quicken support, this is a long time to fix a problem that happened after you updated Quicken. Don't blame TIAA (and TIAA don't blame Quicken). Work together. Let's get it fixed in early this new year.

This is a Quicken problem and is affecting multiple financial institutions’ downloads — not just TIAA.

Hello everyone and thank you for reaching out in regards to these issues with online banking services. We are sorry that these are continuing.

To be clear, if you were experiencing problems with CC-502 error messages in regards to your TIAA accounts earlier than this week, the Open Alert linked here is likely related to your situation. As of today, two new Open Alerts concerning online banking service problems that are affecting multiple financial institutions have emerged, and you can follow the links provided here and here for any additional information, and all future updates.

I hope that is helpful, and feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns.

    Thank you,

    -Quicken Jared

What about those of us who are not getting error messages but are getting erroneous data downloads (i.e. zero balances or incorrect transactions) as zI am from my TIAA retirement and brokerage accounts?

    Hello @CynCon,

Thanks for seeking further clarification regarding this matter.

Have you attempted to create a test file using the instructions provided in our previous exchange? If so, did you notice these same issues continuing in the test file?

I look forward to your answers.

    Thank you,

Yes I have. Erroneous data showing excess funds that I do not have in two brokerage accounts. Four retirement accounts listed but I only have two (account numbers make no sense) — all show zero balances which also is wrong.
The downloaded files are a mess.

Same prolem with TIAA, shows 0 balance in all of my and partner's 10 accounts. Tired of Quicken pushing solution off on me. No, I will not follow your instructions for test files again for every issue currently in place-- TIAA and multiple credit accounts. Will you pay me for my time in helping you? Have been patient since early December and obviously not able to run an accurate year end report.

When is Quicken going to take responsibility and fix this?

Those open alerts do not respond to this problem, which has been ongoing since Nov. 11 and has been reported on several threads. It seems like Quicken simply is not will or capable of doing their job. Thanks. This is premium support? The only answer we have received is to roll back our version of Quicken. How about Quicken fixing the newest version?

At first, adding a TIAA brokerage services account worked, but showed zeroed out balances with weird accounting that added a negative version of the account balance on the line following the account balance, zeroing out the account. Now I simply can't make a connection. Soooooo many connection issues with Quicken. And if you can't sync your accounts, Quicken becomes simply another version of Excel for me.
