Why do my M&T accounts downloads not sync with my existing People's accounts?

I was able to finally download transactions on my M&T accounts (since the People's conversion) but they created new account names, 2 months of transactions and no balances. How do I merge them or correct it so it doesn't happen again? When I called M&T and was on hold for 20 minutes, they said it was a Quicken issue. I called Quicken waited for 25 minutes and never got through to a customer service person.

    I am sorry about these problems with online banking services, and with strange account information being created when trying to make use of them. Thank you for letting us know about this here on the Quicken Community.

    Can you first tell us more about how you were able to achieve successful downloads? Did you go through the Add Account button denoted by the '+' symbol in the upper left-hand side of the screen, and were your other accounts deactivate when this was attempted? What had been preventing you from downloading transactions previously; had you noticed any error messages, and if so, what kind?

    HI Jared, Thank you for your quick response. I went to One Step Update. When it wouldn't work I called M&T Bank they said if my bank password had a symbol that was the problem. I changed my password and the download worked! I had not experienced any other error messages of any kind. Also the new downloads with the new names and zero balances appear in the Quicken Account Details file with the Financial Institution listed as M&T Bank - Direct Connect, with their R&T number and a new expanded number for the savings account that has the same last 4 digits as my People's account. Same exactly for my checking account with the exception that my account number remained the same. My People's accounts are listed as zzz-People's United Bank - CT, with their R&T number and Express Web Connect. Perhaps this is the problem? If so, I'm not sure how to fix this. Thank you!

    I am sorry about these problems with online banking services. Thank you for getting back to me with so much helpful context about this situation.

    First, save a backup by navigating to File > Copy or Backup File... in the upper menu at the top of the screen. Next, deactivate all M&T and People's Bank accounts by following the steps listed in the Support Article linked here, under the section entitled Deactivate an account. Finally, connect your old People's Bank account by navigating to the Add Account button denoted by the '+' symbol in the upper menu at the top of the screen, then select the new M&T 'instance' as the financial institution when using the search bar in the window that appears. You may then save another backup and delete the new, undesirable accounts that were created by using the steps listed in this Support Article.

    I, too, cannot download my transactions from M&T. I can set up the connection to the bank by adding a new account, and all seems OK. When I go to Edit account details in tools> online services, I get a message "setup now." In other words, the setup did not work.
    I have contacted Quicken support twice. Each time the tech has taken me through setting up a new account with the same result. Quicken Support doesn't know about the problem, which surprises me since it has been discussed on this forum since at least September. Reading the comments, no one has a surefire answer, and no fix appears to be on the horizon. Six months and no solution sounds like someone isn't trying.
    Does anyone have a guaranteed answer?
