Reauthorize American Express

logged into Quicken today and was prompted to reauthorize Quicken to download transactions with American Express for a credit card account. After doing so, Quicken prompted me with the Add Account window. However the window doesn't show my existing account in the Link to Existing Account drop down. Plus it lists the account being linked as a checking account, not a credit card. If I choose Add to Quicken to enable that dropdown, it only gives me Checking and Savings options. How am I supposed to link to my original account?

We are sorry about this problem with adding accounts. Thank you for inquiring about this here on the Quicken Community.
Do you know what connection method might be required by the credit account? What do you see when you click Advanced Options in the Add Account screen after you've selected your financial institution?
I look forward to your answers, and I hope to provide more assistance, if necessary.
Thank you,

I logged into Quicken today and also had to reauthorize my American Express Credit Card. I now have 2 American Express Cards listed for the same account. I thought that I linked the new account to the previous account. Your help is appreciated.0

Hello @cissywolff,
Thank you for reaching back out.
Before you begin any troubleshooting attempts, we first advise saving a backup.
Then, I suggest that you please deactivate the 2 new accounts that were created and then delete them. Please, follow the steps found in this support article to deactivate. Once deactivated, right-click each of the new account names and select Edit/Delete account and click Delete Account on the bottom left. Follow the prompts to complete the deletion of each account.
Once they have both been deleted, attempt to reconnect the original two accounts through Add Account, by navigating to Tools > Add Account..., search for your Financial Institution name, and then follow the prompts to connect. Once your account(s) have been found, be sure to link them to the existing account(s) you have already set up in Quicken.
I hope this helps!

@Quicken Jared, I'm simply trying to reauthorize an existing account. There is no Advanced Options button on the page, nor can I select a Financial Institution. The credit card account already exists in Quicken, and the reauthorization process happens when I try to do an online update. The Link to Existing dropdown does not include the account I'm trying to reauthorize..0
