Update confirmation

I don't use one-step update, preferring to work with one account at a time. From the account register, I select Update Now. It the past, I used to have to enter the password and then start the update. Now with the new connection methods, there is no password. It still brings up the dialog box again and I have to click on update again. I find this very annoying. I'm constantly starting an update and then walking away expecting to come back and see the downloaded transactions. But of course it is waiting for me to click on update a second time. This is redundant and a waste of time. It there a setting to skip this if no further input is required. If not, can that be added?

    Hello @mb66,

We are sorry about this issue with credential requirements and the One Step Update feature. Thank you for asking about this here on the Quicken Community.

In order to be of assistance with your questions, I need to know: is this occurring with accounts associated with a particular financial institution? If so, which one? Also, what was the connection method used previously, and what appears to be in use, now?

I look forward to your answers, and hope to provide further assistance.

    Thank you,

    Quicken Jared

It has nothing to do with a particular financial institution. The program always ask to start the update when no password is required instead of just doing the update.

    Hello @mb66,

Thanks for getting back to us about this.

To be clear, were you being prompted for your QuickenID and password, or one of your banking institution account usernames and passwords? Is there any way you could provide screenshots of what you're seeing - with personal information redacted as necessary? You can follow the steps explained in this FAQ in order to do this. Also note that you may drag and drop your images into your comment in order to submit images, as well.

I look forward to your response.

    Thanks,

    Quicken Jared

We're talking about this confirmation dialog which always appears and seems unneeded.

Let me further clarify this.  It isn't exactly like @mb66 has stated (and I don't believe this is anything new).

Here is the sequence for a Direct Connect account when it the first requested Update Now in a session:

It prompts to get the Vault Password, so that it has it for the account.

Once that is done this dialog comes up:

So, for Direct Connect which requires a password there are actually two prompts.  Note that the password for the Password Vault had already been entered for this session, the first prompt wouldn't have come up.

Now for an Express Web Connect or Express Web Connect + account where there the password is either already on the Intuit server or not used in the case of Express Web Connect + you only get the second prompt.

I definitely agree that posting this dialog isn't needed and should just be removed.  When a person has selected Update Now from the menu/shortcut they certainly shouldn't have to "confirm it" by selecting the Update Now button in this dialog.

So, this sort of sounds like a feature request to me.

Is there a next step to get this changed?

It looks like this thread has already been changed to an Idea that can be voted on by the moderators. That is how Quicken Inc takes suggestions, so all that remains is for people to vote the idea up. You can vote in original message box at the top of this thread.
