Wrong Balances in Quicken for my Checking Account.

I use Quicken for Windows on my laptop running Windows 11. Suddenly my checking account balance in Quicken changed and is more than $70,000 too high. My account in not linked and I enter transactions manually. I tried restoring from a previous backup, even uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing works.

Does it gradually get worse or is it all at once? A $70K difference is kind of hard to not notice if you search back thru the register. Tell us more.

Was there any kind of recent Quicken update ?Take a look at the Opening Balance of the account ?QWin Deluxe Subscription - Win101

It happened all at once. It was fine 4 days ago when I added some entries and synched and backed up. The opening balance for the account looks fine. As to recent updates, they happen all the time. I don't think that there was one in the last 4 days, but I could be wrong.0

What I meant by gradually getting worse is the balance column. It obviously happened all at once otherwise you would have written when it was only $10K or $20K. If you go back two years, is it off $70K? You have to help us here with more information. We can't see your register, so anything we suggest is pure speculation without some facts.-splasher using Q continuously since 1996 - Subscription Quicken - Win11

No. It looks OK until some time in 2022. But I can't find any wrong entry.0

Wasted 30 minutes with Quicken support chat. Then tried again with another tech. It appears that there may be an issue when backups are stored on OneDrive. They can be "damaged" on the way up or down, according to this guy. After the chat got me that far, I was able to find an earlier backup eith correct balances and manually add more recent entries. Who knows if it will happen again?0

Are you storing only Quicken data file backups on OneDrive or your active Quicken data file as well?Quicken Subscription HBRP - Windows 101

It turns out my active file had wound up on OneDrive (unbeknownst to me). I've now designated a file on a removable disk drive as my active file and use OneDrive only for backups. I hope this will prevent a recurrence. I wish Quicken would get its act together vis-a-vis OneDrive, as I'm sure I was not the only one with this issue. The first Quicken support tech I wasted time with was totally clueless and told me that since Quicken does not have access to change data in my offline accounts, the problem must have been my bad entries. Their support is miserable.0
