How to configure E*Trade with 2FA.

We have two investment accounts with E*Trade connected through Direct Connect and two E*Trade Bank accounts connected through Express Web Connect. I've turned on 2FA at E*Trade and every time I update, I get a message "It appears one or more of your account(s) at E*Trade Bank have been deleted..." I've reset both Bank account multiple times and the error persists. How do I get this all working?

    Hello @Theresa N

We are sorry about this issue with two-factor authentication and online banking services. Thank you for asking about this here on the Quicken Community.

First, where is your current active data file located? You can check this by navigating to File > Show this file on my computer… in the upper menu at the top of the screen. Make sure that your data file is located on the computer and not an external drive or cloud-based storage service, as these locations can cause erratic behavior and even data damage.

Also, if you have the chance, you could save a backup by going to File > Copy or Backup File... in the upper menu at the top of the screen and then create a 'test' data file by going to the same menu and selecting New Quicken File... Next, choose New Quicken File in the screen that follows, and then click OK. After this, choose a file location on your computer and then click Save. Choose Don't use mobile and web when prompted.

You may then add your E*Trade-associated accounts by navigating to the Add Account button in the Tools menu option in upper left-hand side of the screen, or in the more central, upper left-hand panel, denoted by the '+' symbol. Let us know if you see the same error message occurring in the test data file once this is attempted.

I look forward to hearing about how this works.

    Thank you,

    Quicken Jared

    Hi Jared,
Maybe I should add some detail. I've been using Quicken with all my accounts for more than 20 years. My connection to E*Trade has been working fine until I turned on 2FA a week or so ago. Occasionally, Quicken update will prompt for my 2FA code, but most times it will just fail.
