Use laptop webcam to upload image of receipt

I don't travel with a scanner (traveling light), but my laptop has a webcam. Why can't I use that to enter an image of the receipt, directly in Quicken? Now I have to use the camera app, take a picture of the receipt, and save it as an image file. Laborious! The webcam is just as good an imagine device as a scanner.
