Auto Entered Bills/Deposits Stopped Working Properly After Update Last Week (5/8/2023)

For years I have used numerous income/bill reminders that are set to automatically enter. Last week there was an update to Quicken and most (but not all) my bills and deposits switched from Auto Enter to Remind. I have tried 1) switching the reminders back to auto enter, 2) deleting several of the reminders and recreating them. Every time I Synch with the cloud Quicken changes the reminders from Auto Enter back to Remind. I tried, but can't determine any pattern as to why most of the reminders keep switching, but not all the reminders.

- Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web?
AND - do you actually use the Mobile app on your smartphone or the Quicken on the Web browser-based app?
The Sync process has been suspected of a number of weird happenings with Quicken. Could your problem be caused by Sync?
If you answer "yes" to the 1st question and "no" to the 2nd question, turn Sync off completely. You don't need it. The Sync process should only be used in conjunction with the Quicken app for Smartphones or the Quicken on the Web browser app. It cannot be used as a replacement for backing up and restoring your Quicken data file.
If you answer "yes" to both questions, try to Reset Sync so that the current cloud sync file is replaced with a fresh complete copy
Do note that a full Sync process may take many minutes to complete.How to reset Sync to Cloud
• Log out of your mobile app, then do this on your desktop / laptop:
• Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
• Click the "Reset your cloud data" link and follow the instructions until it is complete.
• Sync your desktop file to the cloud
• Now log back into your mobile appHow to turn off Sync to Cloud for the current data file
• Go to Edit / Preferences / Mobile and Web
• Change the Sync radio button and set it to OFF0 - Are you Syncing to Mobile/Web?

Yes I use both the mobile app and Web to access Quicken regularly.
1) I went in to everyone of my reminders and changed them from "Remind" back to "Auto Enter".
2) I deleted my synch log.dat files.
3) I reset my Quicken file on-line.
4) Checked my bill reminders and they were all reset back to "Remind" from "Auto Enter"
So all this didn't fix the problem.

Did you see this Alert, posted yesterday:
Is it possible that this applies to you?
If you are using the views under the Bills & Income Tab, also view the reminders using the Tools Menu / Manage Bill & Income Reminders view. Does it show "Remind me" when it should show "Auto Enter"?0 -
Probably. Thank you.

It's not just the "auto enter" that's not there, some payments that had showed "EDIT" in the Action column have now changed to "ENTER" which means that "automatically enter" has now changed to "remind me".
Here's what's strange about that…yesterday I changed everything back to "auto enter" (after doing that all of the "auto enter" tags showed) then I followed all of the procedures to re-sync to the cloud, signed out and back in to Quicken multiple times and all looked well…this morning everything looked fine but the "auto enter" tag had disappeared and within minutes the "EDIT", in the Action column, changed back to "ENTER" but ONLY FOR THE PAYMENTS THAT ARE DUE IN 30 DAYS…all of the payments after 30 days are still displaying "EDIT" in the Action column.Note that the reason I had to change everything back to "automatically enter" was that a few days ago I had noticed that some of them had changed, on their own, to "remind me" so I then changed them back but yesterday I saw that they had changed again so I, once again, changed them back.

In addition to the auto-entry functionality going away I just noticed that the income reminders that utilized the Paycheck Wizzard have been converted to regular income reminders. Luckily all the lines are there, but the definitely are not set up using the paycheck wizzard.

Yesterday I, once again, changed all of the due within 30 day payments (remember only the payments due within 30 days had changed themselves from "auto enter" to "remind me") back to "auto enter" and then closed & re-opened Quicken numerous times and they all remained as "auto enter".
I opened Quicken this morning and they had all changed back to "remind me" but again it was only the due in 30 days payments while everything due beyond 30 days remained "auto enter".This is crazy…since everything was just fine prior to that supposed 5/08/2023 update.

Note that even with "sync to Quicken cloud" unchecked, in One Step Update, the payments due within 30 days still change themselves from "auto enter" to "remind me".

Quicken Premier version R49.29 build 27.1.49.29 Windows 11 Home - Bill and Income reminder status changing from "Auto" to "Upcoming" after One-Step Update. I changed them back to auto, ran One-step update again and again they switch to "Upcoming". In this status, of course, they do not automatically enter on the date due. Instead, they queue up in the "Bill and Income Reminders (x due)" tab for the appropriate account. Not all reminders are being changed. Some stay in the "Auto" status. I can't correlate anything specific about one that change status versus those that do not.

I find that the only ones that revert from "auto enter" back to reminders are the payments & income that are within 30 days…the rest remain unchanged.

Same issue for me and I came here to put in my two sense to report it.0

Same issue here. "Auto enter" changes to "remind me." Additionally, several instances of a recurring reminder simply disappeared with the "start date" changed to date over a month in the future.

If you click on "View Post" (above), there's a line in the first paragraph that reads "This does not affect the functionality of auto entry of the transaction". Has anyone NOT entered a reminder before the due date and seen that this is true?
I'm going to change the next ("auto enter" that was changed to "reminder") payment's date to tomorrow's date (17th) and am intentionally not going to enter it myself but instead wait until the day after to see if what they say is true.
I'll post my results on the 18th.

Paul, I changed a status "Upcoming" bill reminder dated 1/11/2024 to "Auto", ran One-Step Update and it changed back to "Upcoming". So, your premise of the problem effecting only bills and income reminders within 30 days is not applicable to my situation.

@Quicken Jasmine
In the above link you state that…
"Customers have reported that when adding a manual bill reminder with auto entry on that is then synced to mobile/web, the "Auto-Enter" is no longer displayed on the reminder. This does not affect the functionality of auto entry of the transaction"
This may be true if only the "Auto Enter" is no longer displayed and the transaction remains flagged as "Auto Enter" but in the case that this thread describes, when "Auto Enter" transactions have been changed (by Quicken) to "Remind Me" then you have to manually enter the transaction or it shows as past due.
I'm not sure if these issues (which all began after the 05/15/2023 update) are related or not but someone might want to look into that.

I have seen the same issue with the Income & Reminders. A large portion of transactions have changed themselves for Auto back to Upcoming, meaning they will not enter themselves automatically in the register like I had set them, thus you must enter each transaction manually I guess. I went and changed 24 reminders back to Auto setting and then exited the program and then logged back in only to see that the program had changed them back to Upcoming again. I changed them all back to Auto again and exited the program. I After reading this thread I fully expect them to revert back on their own again. Frustrating to say the least. While on the subject of income & bill reminders, in trying to organize all of our finances for my wife, should something happen to me, I have setup all the bills to auto pay, but with the increased security protocols of Banks such as Bank of America not allowing to pay bills anymore through Quicken I have setup bill pay through the Bank and make use of their e-bill functionality where they receive the vendor invoice and then schedule the auto payment. Unfortunately not every vendor subscribes to this functionality so for those vendors I set up auto pay directly with the vendor. Now, all that being said it sure would be nice if we had options in Quicken to choose from when setting up a reminder that you could tell at a glance which type of Auto payment it is. Currently the only choice you see is Auto. It would be nice to have choices to label the reminder such as Bill Pay (meaning you have to set up payment on banks bill pay), e-Bill Pay (meaning the bank receives the bill and sets up payment automatically), Vendor Pay (meaning the vendor automatically drafts payment from bank account or charges credit card), and there may be others that make sense. They are just labels at this point. It would also be nice to be able to edit and choose what columns are shown in the Bill & Income Reminders section and be able to size them any width we want. I know, I know, now I'm just dreaming.

OK, so I just went and changed all my Upcoming items back to Auto and restarted Quicken. All items are still Auto. I then synced to Bank of America, but not the cloud. All the items I switched to Auto are now back to Upcoming. Any idea when this will be fixed??1

@TexLa07
I've done some more checking into this and found that it's not 30 days but what actually changes is the NEXT DUE bill or income entry.
I have some payments that are entered quarterly, biannually and annually and find that the NEXT DUE entry is the only one that changes back to "remind me" from "automatically enter" after running One Step Update…all of the entries beyond that are not affected.
Also note that it still does it regardless of whether or not "sync to cloud" is checked in OSU.

@Quicken Kristina @Quicken Jasmine
In my post prior to this one I talked about ONLY the NEXT DUE bills & payments changing from "automatically enter" to "remind me" after running One Step Update.
This morning I found that you don't even have to run OSU for this to happen…I had a Netflix payment which had previously changed from auto to enter and after manually entering that payment I immediately scrolled down and found that the NEXT DUE Netflix payment had now changed from "automatically enter" to "remind me"…and that's with doing nothing but manually entering the payment.
Perhaps you could forward this information to the group that's working on this issue as it may help them solve this.Thanks,

I'm wondering if Quicken/Intuit is even aware of this issue. The people on here named "Quicken..." Do they even work for Quicken?0
-
Yes they are completely aware. I have submitted three different problem reports, via Quicken, which included log files and descriptions of various scenarios regarding this issue.

Same issue here… after changing all my bill and income reminders back to automatically-enter they have now all reverted back to remind-me… please keep me posted as this is quite annoying.

I am glad I found this thread because I have been having this same issue plus one more I have not seen discussed. My "only once" reminders always change to "yearly". Is this a known issue, too?0
