Quicken 2015+ (incl 2018/2019+) Mac: international accounts ?
Hi, I'm considering buying Quicken 2015 for Mac.
However, I am french, with French accounts, and living in Singapore, with Singapore bank accounts also.
Does quicken support international accounts in banks in France and Singapore ?
Typically, I'm looking for import features for HSBC accounts (France and Singapore) as well as DBS (Singapore). Does the new quicken offer this ?
Thanks in advance

Quicken is intended for use in the US and Canada and will probably not sync with international banks. There are international options available, however. Take a look at the following article: https://www.quicken.com/support/quicken-us-and-canada-products
Best of luck
Colin

CD version: If you have a US or Canadian address to ship to, you can order from Intuit.com. If you do not have a US or Canadian address, you can purchase it from other online retailers, like Amazon.com, that will ship worldwide to your home address.
Download version: If you want to purchase it from Intuit.com, you must use a US or Canadian address to make the purchase, and a credit card that will match the address. Otherwise, you must purchase it from an online retailer like Amazon.com.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST use a US or Canadian address to REGISTER the application (be creative in getting a real one), regardless of how you order QMac or what address you used. Be sure to use your own e-mail address.

MORE IMPORTANT NOTES (as of v2.4.2): Some features do not work outside the US.
- QMac is only intended to download data from financial institutions located in the US or Canada. You should be fine if you enter all data manually.
- Quicken for Mac does import OFX files (a MS Money format, new in QM2015) that may work internationally (though it is untested).
- QMac is only in English and not localized.
- Quicken Mobile can only be used to sync with QMac in the US or CA, officially (see additional comment below)
- Although QMac can have registers in different currencies, it does not currently handle currency conversions for transfers, reports, etc.
- If you are upgrading from either Quicken for Mac or Windows, the conversion only officially supports US versions of Quicken data. Conversion is not guaranteed with any other versions, though the following users succeeded:
- one user upgrading Quicken 4 EU format, see here: https://qlc.intuit.com/questions/1130414
- one user upgrading Quicken 2004 UK format using old copy of Microsoft Money, see here: https://qlc.intuit.com/questions/136679
With all this said, many international users are using QMac. YMMV- Where to find a Help Guide for Quicken for Mac?

How to do it (theoretically and unofficially):
- You need to REGISTER Quicken with Intuit using a real US address (be creative)
- You need to create an US based iTunes account, to be able to download Quicken Mobile--one time only (see instructions in above link)
Caveats:
- you can sync manually entered data between mobile device and Quicken 2015
- you can only sync data from banks/financial institutions IF you can download their data via QFX. Direct Connect or Quick Connect/Express Web Connect (EWC) cannot be used.
- you cannot sync if you use unicode characters (used by non-English languages).
All caveats in previous post above still apply. YMMV

A user has figured out a work-around to allow Quicken to load QFX or OFX data when Quicken refuses to do so. You can read the details here: https://qlc.intuit.com/questions/1289346-why-do-i-get-this-when-i-download-from-cibc-or-tangerine-cc-885
The steps are quite simple:
- Edit the QFX or OFX file to change the INTU.BID (Bank ID) to a number that is supported. Since the QFX or OFX file is simply a text file, you can open with any Text Editor (like TextEdit in Applications folder on a Mac)
- to get a valid INTU.BID, look in the 'fidir.txt' file in Quicken. To get access to the file on a Mac, follow these steps:
- go the the Quicken application in the Applications folder
- right-click on Quicken and select Show Package Contents
- you should find the 'fidir.txt' file in Content > Resources > English.lproj folder.
- look for a bank entry that has either "&WEBONLY" or "&WEB-CONNECT" depending on the version of Quicken you have.
- pick the 5-digit code at the start of the line and replace it in the QFX or OFX file you downloaded from your FI/bank.
- save your QFX file.
Now Quicken should load the data. It may be trial and error. If one does not work, try another (check out the link to the discussion threads for some potential candidates).
YMMV

https://www.propersoft.net/ - has many file format convertors for Mac and Windows
Though QM2015+ does not support importing QIF files (except for starting a new file from Banktivity (formerly iBank) and Moneydance), these links may be useful as background info to help as intermediary steps (don't mind that these links are focused on QWin...).
