Different Users on One Mac Not Allowed In 2015 for Mac?
This questions has been asked, but I feel the answers don't reflect the nature of the question.
With previous versions of Quicken you could simply point to a common data file and both users could access the file. This allowed two users who share a common bank account (many of us) to access the same data from our individual login. Please understand that we ARE NOT trying to access the data at the same time or from a remote location: we share the same Mac.
With previous versions of the software (recently Essentials) I simply put the data file in the "Shared" folder and we could both access it with no problem. It seems that 2015 somehow tags the data file to a "user" and won't allow anyone else to access it (even if they have full read/write permissions).
I just spent an hour on the phone with Quicken Technical Support and we tried everything we could think of. The only thing that came close to working was dragging the data file onto the desktop, open the program and make changes, exit the program and then drag the file back to the shared folder. When the other user signs back in, they have to repeat the process. This is not only a pain, but is a sure recipe for corrupted data if someone forgets to copy the file BACK after updates.
To the Quicken Team:
I know this is not a big issue in the overall scope of things, but I imagine there are many people in the same situation: two people, one computer, shared accounts. If you are concerned with data corruption then just give us the option to get a warning about the potential and then make a choice on our own.

OK, I spent a LONG time on the phone with Quicken Tech support (yes, I really did get a return call as promised after a tech "chat"). It seems the ONLY solution at this point is to create a user account for Quicken on your Mac. Make sure you are setup for rapid user switching. Then, just leave Quicken open on the Quicken user login. Then, anyone (who you authorize by giving the user password) can simply do a quick login on that page to find Quicken open and waiting.
I was told that the development team reads these community posts. I hope they will give us back the ability to place the data file in a central location so any user can access it from their on login just like every other version of Quicken to date. Seems a small thing to ask for, but it sure will make life easier for those of us who share a computer; and one Quicken account.
