    Hi slojay00,
Could you possibly clarify your question a bit?  What exactly are you doing?  What type of accounts are you dealing with?

The more detail on the steps your taking will help us provide you with an answer--

    Thanks,

    Sure  a little more info. . . .
I have Checking account, Savings account, both are set up to download transactions.  I have an automative transfer from Checking to Savings.  When I set up a transaction to "transfer from Checking to Savings" it shows up in both registers, good.

The issue is when I go to reconcile.  I reconcile the savings and the transfer transaction is reconciled.  then when I go into Checking to reconcile, the transfer is not in the reconcile screen, I exit out and can see the transfer in the Checking register, it is not marked "R", so it should show up in the reconciliation?

What I've had to do it to add in another transaction to balance the reconcile, then delete the transaction that doesn't show up in the reconcilation.  When I do this, I get a promt "Are you sure you want to delete the reconciled transaction" (something to that effect).  The transaction shows no "R".  The only thing I can think of is that it thinks that it is reconciled because it is on the other side in Savings.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks

First, just because the transaction is reconciled in one account does not mean it should be reconciled in the second account.  At the clearest point, there could be two totally different financial institutions involved, but even within the same FI, the accounts might not issue statements at the same time, thus may not reconcile at the same time.

Barring other errors, I would agree, it should show up.

When you delete the transaction that is not showing up as expected, you are deleting BOTH sides of the transaction - the reconciled transaction in the Savings account and the unreconciled transaction in the Checking account.  Quicken is warning you about delting the reconciled half in the other account.

Now back to why the unreconciled transaction does not show up in the Reconcile window as expected.  One common error I have seen users have is mis-entering the reconciliation date.  You should double check that.

The second possibility is that the posting date is in error.  That is information transmitted from the FI.  To see the posting date for a transaction, roght-click on the transaction in the register; hold down Ctrl while choosing to Copy transaction.  The View Posting Date window should show that this was a downloaded transaction and show a posting date.  That date must be within the reconciliation date time frame for the transaction to be listed in the reconciliation window.

Note that the both halves of the transfer transaction will always have the same date in your Quicken registers.  I prefer that these dates are the transaction dates when I intiiate the transaction and not the posting dates when the FI processes the transaction.

    q.lurker.

thank you for your response, yes I agree that I don't want the transaction to be reconciled at the same time on both sides, but the feeling that I'm getting is that Quicken thinks that it should be.

Yes when I delete the transaction that is not showing up inside the recon screen, it does as it should and deletes the entry for the other account, that has been reconciled.

I though about the date as well, but since the other side of the transaction showed up in the correct date range for the recon, this one should as well and their are entries before the date and after the date.  I will try the Ctrl Copy next time this happens to see if it sheds any light.

I would think that Quicken would work off the dates that are displayed in the register and not the dates behind the sceen.

    Thanks
