Amounts showing are all preceded by "US$"    How can I change that to either simply "$" or to "Can$"

I also would like to know because I live in Europe. I don't care if I can substitute the euro sign or not, if I can just get rid of the dollar sign. I live in Spain, so it would be nice to have Quicken in Spanish. All my entries of course are in Spanish but all of the formatting is in English.

I just tried printing a report for a single account and noticed when I did the report by Category and not Transaction, that one of my entries came up with the € euro sign instead of the US$. I noticed that I had used the euro sign in a note, so I tried to replicate it. What I noticed by experimenting is that I can change future entries by simply including the euro sign in the note column. But that doesn't solve the problem of older entries without reentering the information and then deleting the old entries!  Surely there has to be a way to change the currency symbol without doing a cumbersome work-around.

In fact marvrob45, there should be no US$ or Euro or any other denomination sign showing.  I can see no reason for showing such signs and they should simply be removed altogether.

angapmac, your "answer" looks more like a comment to me. If what you say were true, I would be perfectly happy. I did not put the US$ symbols in QEM, they just showed up when I imported from Quicken 2005 and are everywhere! My previous version of Quicken didn't have any currency symbols. So, how can I get rid of them?

I note, marvrob45, that I did not express myself properly.  I should have said:  Intuit's Quicken Essential should be programmed in such a way that no denomination signs of any type are shown.

I believe I have now found an answer to my own question.

For each banking account, choose "Settings" and the multiple choice "Currency" then provides a choice for many different countries.

Try going to System Preferences and using Language & Text.  At a (very) quick glance I saw Canadian settings for both region and currency.

Thank you DKE but this has no effect on Intuit's Quicken Essentials, only on the Finder menus.  In any case, I have found so much to be desired in this Quicken Essentials program that I have just requested a reimbursement.  I hope Intuit's relationship with the Mac community will be different from the past, but I'm not holding my breath...

Thanks for helping with the currency issue. However I haven't found the settings at the bottom of the page mentioned by Wibbie. I made the changes through the Accounts – > Settings on the top menu bar.

I have another little problem. Some of my scheduled deposits show up as expenses in the reports. I haven't seen anywhere to change that status. I need to get that problem resolved before the end of the month when I have to print my financial reports.

Finally the scheduled deposits that I have, Sunday morning offerings and Sunday evening offerings (I do the accounting for our church) are now entered out of order. With the old Quicken they always came in as morning then evening. Now they are being entered evening then morning. It is things like this that I find quite frustrating with QEM.

You have found these issues now, and you will keep finding unsolvable issues.  Quicken Essentials is far, far from ready for general use.  We are all guiney pigs in this adventure.  This is why I sought reimbursement.  You should do likewise.
