Problems in using Data Converter

When I get to the stage in data conversion of importing into Quicken, I can see the program convert and validate files, and then abruptly get a splash screen message that the Data Converter has stopped working.  Any thoughts?

    Hi cr70,
Make sure that you've followed the exact procedure outlined in this FAQ for converting your files: https://quicken.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/quicken.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5521

If you have already done this, please post back with the exact error message you're receiving, as well as the version of Money you have and the version of Quicken you're converting to.  Also, what is the total number of transactions you are trying to convert?  Right now, the data converter will only work for up to 10,000 transactions--we're currently working with the MS Money team to create a converter that will work for more transactions.

I am using Quicken 2009 premier and Money Plus premium.  I followed the FAQ to the letter.  Was trying to convert far fewer than 10,000 transactions.

In any event, I gave up using the converter, and instead followed the advice of your help (both chat and live) to install Quicken 2004, bring the data over using QIF files, and then convert the 2004 files to 2009.  this worked, albeit I had to spend apx 12 hours cleaning up the data (mostly transfers).  Not a great introduction to Quicken.  Was hoping for better
