Update #4 from Quicken Marcus

Last week in Update #3 I talked about our 2 phase process of updating the data service infrastructure to a more modern platform. Quicken Essentials customers and actually all intuit customers use this service to get their financial data.

PHASE 1 - Last Tuesday we completed the first phase which updated the servers QEM uses to communicate to the intuit data services. There were no issues.

PHASE 2 –Today we switched a small portion of customers over to the new Intuit data service platform. We've been testing this for the past few weeks on internal test servers and don't expect any issues but one never knows what can happen when these types of changes get into the real world. We'll continue to roll this out to more and more people over the course of the next few weeks if we don't see or hear of issues.

If you think you're seeing financial data update issues because of this switch over, please go to http://knowledgebase.quicken.com/support/index.jsp to report it quickly to our team.

Thanks,
Marcus

    Hi Marcus,

Generally... I like QEM. Great and attractive UI, easy to understand and use... for the most part.

In my opinion there is a glaring omissions... I use a brokerage account from which I write checks as well as a traditional bank account. I can't download the checking activity from my brokerage account not to mention stock and equity transactions. The checking activity is the big issue for me.

I understand the work you are doing with the infrastructure but that doesn't help me with my day to day frustration with the area of concern above.

When can we expect additional functionality to QEM?

    Thanks,

    Jim

    Hi Qknmac,

The list of supported financial institutions is unrelated to Quicken or any other Intuit product and is handled by an entirely different group.  They can add financial institutions at any time and every intuit application theoretically can then add that financial institution to their supported list and then customers can start downloading this data.  If your brokerage account is not supported, the best thing to do is to work with our support people and to get the brokerage on to the radar of our customer central team that does all the data aggregation.  They add financial institutions from time to time and if there is enough demand they will prioritize it accordingly.  In other words, you don't have to wait for a new version of Quicken Mac to get your financial institution supported.

Sorry I was thinking you were talking about the general case of not being able to download transaction data from a financial institution because we don't support it.  The list of supported financial institutions can be updated without updating Quicken Essentials.

However, someone just emailed me and said that they think you're talking about not being able to see the transactions for a brokerage account.  If this is your main point then yes we would need to update Quicken to add that feature.  This appears to be one of the top requests from customers and is definitely something we're looking into.

    Thanks,
    Marcus
