So, why not? What happens? What error codes or messages? And which brokerages? Also, go into MSIE, and see what the security settings are on the Advanced tab. Even though you use Safari, Q uses Internet Explorer.

what happens is after i enter my download request (login credentials), I get whirling color wheel for very long time, and eventually error message to effect of: quicken cannot reach server - error message OL-291; brokerages are schwab and vanguard.Apropos MISE settings - I don't even have MISE on my mac (and have never had this download issue before) - I would prefer not to have to download it. PS - is this error same as OL-248/OL-290?
The reason for the OL-291 error is that there is a problem with the security certificate & there has been an attack by a Poodle SSL on the communications between servers, making them vulnerable to interception. You can read about it here: https://www.us-cert.gov/ncas/alerts/TA14-290A The responsible financial institutions have shut down the transaction download capability to QMac2007 to safeguard their customer's data. Intuit must upgrade their security certificate to make it right. They are supposedly working on it, but I wish they would give us a timeline and a straight answer.
I just spoke with Quicken support. they tried to get me to pay $199 to fix my supposedly corrupted data file. I declined for now until I check it out further. BUT they said that Intuit is working on a fix for the poodle virus that is supposed to be released in 24 hours. Wait & see, I guess. Keep your fingers crossed.
Quicken Kathryn, I called 1-877-778-5834, which is the number I was given for Quicken support. Are you saying this was NOT Quicken support? At one point we got disconnected & they called me back from Chicago from 773-649-5173. This makes me very concerned that I was talking to someone other than Intuit. Here is what they told me, in case you want to follow up & check this out. They told me my data file was corrupted & they could fix it if I paid $199 for 1 year of Quicken support. They said that the purchase price of Quicken 2015 would be included in that price. They also said that Intuit was aware of the poodle ssl problem and were working on a fix that would be ready in 24 hours. From what you said, it sounds like this is all a lie. I'm glad I declined their "offer". This is the information he gave me:

Also, we all would like to know if there is any timeline to fix the poodle ssl problem, or if it will not be fixed, so we can move on. Thank you
Yep, Quicken doesn't have phone support anymore. That is an unofficial support place. Quicken doesn't charge more than $50 for support and support is free for the current versions. So if you are getting charged a big amount or someone is trying to sell you a program to repair your computer that is not Quicken. There are several fake support places that are scamming you and will mess up your computer.
dianef- also thanks for the link to the explanation. It's amazing that the error message I got was 290 -- If Quicken had spit out the message with the correct number, 291, I would have been able to get to that link immediately - terrible.

Quicken Support's take on this error is here:
http://knowledgebase.quicken.com/support/help/bank-download-issues/message-when-using-online-services--ol-291/GEN83196.html
My take:- This is a timeout error.- Possible causes: bad internet connection, trouble at the internet service provider, or, trouble at the financial institution.
Fix:- Wait a few hours and try again.

Also, Quicken doesn't charge for support, and would not have given a timeline of 24 hours to resolve this issue--this was likely a third-party company not affiliated with Quicken--here's a thread with more information: http://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/quicken-faq-why-is-quicken-charging-me-for-product-support-where-can-i-get-free-quicken-support
Hope this helps,

Here is the page to buy actual Quicken support for older versions. But I think your version might qualify for free support.
