I also highly recommend that you browse through the IDEAS section of this forum and VOTE for the request of each of the missing features to be added back into Quicken for Mac....to help direct the priorities of the developers.
This IDEA is very similar and you may want to go there and add your vote for that too or instead: Calendar Sync

You may also want to add your VOTE for other features related to Bill Reminders (aka Scheduled Transactions) and Graph Features (aka Cash Flow Forecast or Projected Balance) First, click on the underlined link, then be sure to scroll down the page, as it contains a list of related features. Click on the link to EACH IDEA separately that you are interested in, then click the VOTE button at the top of EACH page that opens up respectively to increase the count and therefore its visibility to the developers.

Yes, some form of notifications/alarms is critical in my opinion. Older versions of Quicken would add entries in your desktop calendar. But I think Apple broke that functionality in iCal around OS 10.7 or something.
But even Quicken 2007 Mac would still pop up an alert box with due bills each time you started Quicken.
But since I typically just keep Quicken open, I would prefer Quicken 2017 continuously check and display due bill alarms. The OS X Notification system seems like a ready made API for this.
