Remove, eliminate, turn off or hide Link it now column and prompts (8 Legacy Votes)

Please update Quicken 2017 for Windows 10 with an option to hide/remove the "Link it Now" column in the "Stay On Top of Monthly Bills" section of the home page. Or at least modify the box that contains it so users can adjust the column widths and don't have to scroll to use all column features to be able to see the FULL name of the payee. Also give users the option to remove/hide the "Linked to Biller" column in all sections/tables in the BILLS tab. Stop prompts to link it, when adding or editing bill reminders. I have never "activated" this feature, and I never will, so I would like the options to hide all of it's related prompts, table columns, etc. I see that this has been an issue for SEVERAL users for at least A YEAR now. It has not been fixed in any updates and the only suggestions/solutions offered are to comment about it in the survey.

Please make "Linked to Biller" and option that can be turned off. This appeared when I updated to Quicken 2017 and is annoying and unnecessary.

Then why is there only two votes?  :-)
I believe 1 is automatic for the person submitting the idea.
Personally it doesn't bother me one way or another, but I will vote it up to 3.  :-)

I agree that the "linked to biller" should be optional.

I am returning my Quicken 2017 purchase as the Link to Biller feature that is NOT optional is very annoying and an unnecessary feature for me.  I will stick with my previous version and hope that this feature is fixed in subsequent versions moving forward.  Please don't force users of your product to have extra clutter and features when they are not necessary.  Keep it simple in my opinion.  The more complicated it gets, the easier it is for technical problems to happen.  My two cents!

I agree, an option to hide or remove the Link It Now if you don't want to use it would be very helpful.

I support this suggestion.  It would go even further and like to be able to the Online Bills tab.  The Online Bills tab and "Link it now" everywhere are distracting if the user never intends to use them.

The Link to Biller makes Quicken harder to use. 90 % of my bills are set as auto payI need to by bass biller

I find the link to biller "feature" less than useful and often annoying as it will often duplicate the reminder. I would like to see the ability to hide this column

Q18 - Adding the ability to adjust column widths and/or remove unneeded columns is not rocket science in the Windows world but for some reason the developers for Quicken can't seem to grasp it.  They did figure it out in the registers but forgot how to do it for Bills.  So simple.  Sad.

I agree. If you are not interested in using the link bills feature, you should be able to hide the column.

    Quicken 2018, Version R10.11, Build 27.1.10.11

In the lower portion of my checking transaction register, in the Downloaded Transactions and Bill and Income Reminders section, Quicken is displaying 2 lines "suggesting" that I link to transactions that are in October, currently it is July. I have the register set to Not Show Reminders.

The suggestion to link the upcoming transaction is for a transaction for a real estate tax bill. The city where I live does not even offer the possibility for linking to an e-bill therefore this suggestion cannot even be done let alone completed.

Please give me a way to turn off link to suggestions. It takes up real-estate on my screen and it  offers functionality that I do not want to use and will never use. I have scowered the Edit/Preference for a way to turn the Link It Now functionality off but it appears that you have overlooked that and also overlooked that some people do not want to use that kind of functionality.

I have been using Quicken since it was first released as a DOS application on my PC and printed my checks with a dot matrix printer. If you need additional information do not hesitate to ask.

I have a Bill reminder set up to print a check for my barber every 4 weeks. My barber does not have a web site where I can link to an on-line bill and I suspect she never will. When I enter the Bill Reminder which creates a Print Check in my check account register and before I print the check there is a "reminder" dated 4 weeks in the future and the only thing that I can do with this reminder is to "Link to Biller"; because my barber is never going to issue an on-line bill this upcoming reminder is just taking up valuable real estate in my transaction register in the reminder section at the bottom of the register.

The same kind of problem exists for a quarterly payment for my local YMCA membership. My YMCA does not have an on-line bill payment system and I suspect they never will. When I create the entry in my check account register and before I print the check there is a "reminder" dated 3 months in the future and the only thing that I can do with this reminder is to "Link to Biller". Again this reminder is just taking up valuable real estate and makes the reminder section of the register more difficult to comprehend.

Please create a way in the Preferences to turn on/off this Link to Biller functionality or at least a "This Biller does not have an on-line web site" check box. For some income and bill reminders "Link to Biller" makes no logical sense. How many more entries of a similar nature does it take before Quicken is going to make the Link to Biller an optional functionality. Surely there are other issues that Quicken take undertake that will provide more functionality that people actually want to use.

I can share one of the problem bill reminders. The last 2 reminders shows the problem (City of Lowell-Water &....) The first is the reminder to print the check (11/13/2018); the second is an Upcoming (2/20/2019) and the only thing one can do is "Link it now"; which I do not want to do. The first reminder is also a problem, (10/23/2018) this is a reminder to print a check which I send to Europe. Libraire Oberlin will never have a web site to link to because this is something I place an order for; it is not a bill. Not all reminders have a bill attached to them, like the check I print to pay my barber. There should be a way to exclude "link to biller".

I was told by a customer support supervisor that I should not use bill and income reminders if I did not want them displayed at the bottom of my register.

I hope this helps because Quicken support does not understand the problem.

I agree with Kimberly's suggestion and am disappointed to see it was made over a year ago with no fix. I also agree with D Barnes to have the option to delete unneeded columns and adjust the column width in Bill & Income Reminders. [rant redacted]
