Quicken 2016 R11 Downloaded Transactions Issue

Quicken 2016 Home and Business R11.  I upgraded Quicken to R11 yesterday (02/23/2017) after I finished using Quicken for the day.  Today, I downloaded transactions and noticed the tabs at the bottom of my linked checking account (linked to an investment account) are missing (Downloaded Transactions and Bill and Income Reminders).  I'm unable to review and accept the new transactions.  This worked fine under R10, but seems to be an issue in R11.  Attached are some screen shots. (Shot1 - Flagged Account needing transaction review.  Shot2 - Online Center display of transactions that need to be reviewed.  Shot3 - bottom of linked checking account where the tabs used to be displayed, but are now missing.)

This linked account behavior has been reported in the past with various Quicken versions. Not sure of the current status because I don't use linked accounts.

Check your Preferences; they may have been reset in the update process. Uncheck "Automatically Add" transactions options. If this is occurring in only one account, check in Account Details, the option to automatically add can be set there also. A linked checking account can act up in strange ways so it may take someone who uses them to provide additional help or you may need to contact Quicken support.

Thanks for your help, but I've never let Quicken automatically add transactions to the banking or investment registers.  (I just verified my settings incase the update to R11 changed them.)  I've been using Quicken since 2006 and this is the first time I've ever had an issue with missing tabs.  I believe there is a bug in R11 since it worked fine prior to installing the update.  This is only affecting my investment linked checking account.  I have another checking account (not linked to an investment) where I downloaded transactions (using Express Web Connect) and the tabs are there.

Also, see Can't See Downloaded Transactions For Only One Account.  Someone else is having the same issue.

Try toggling Auto Add to Registers/Auto Add to Lists between On and Off...if On, turn Off and vice versa...then run a Validate & Repair (File > File Operations > Validate & Repair > Validate File) before changing those settings back.

This patch (and the one before) resolved a long-standing issue of the flag appearing with no data to Accept. If your file was in this state before the patch, the patch could present that flag for you to take the toggle action and fix the file before it is fully resolved.

I created a test file adding one investment account and one linked investment checking account and recreated the issue.

Hi Tamara, before I apply any patch I always complete downloads and process activity.  Next I close my Quicken data file and manually create a backup copy.  (An old habit I picked up from the old MS-DOS days.)   Then I reopen the file and apply the patch.  I was able to recreate the issue by creating a new Quicken data file and adding one investment account with a linked checking account.

Can the transactions be accepted from the tab in the investment account register?

I'm having the same problem. The linked investment account has a zero balance and the download window IS available but not in the brokerage checking account. The auto add features are all unchecked.

Quicken splits investment transactions from checking transactions when accounts are linked.  Only the investment transactions could be reviewed and accepted in the main investment account.  The checking items do not appear in the main investment account.  I can see the downloaded checking activity when I select "Tools", "Online Center", then select the investment account, then select the subaccount (in this case the Cash/Checking account).  They are setting there ready to be reviewed and accepted, but I can not access the "Downloaded Transactions" tab that use to be at the bottom of the linked checking account register.  The tab appears on all my other accounts that I download transactions into, but not on the linked checking account.  (This last statement holds true in both live and test environments.)  Please note, not only is the "Download Transactions (x)" tab missing, but also the "Bill and Income Reminders (x Due)" tab.  It's as if the tabs were turned off in R11 for linked checking accounts.

Below is a picture of the three transactions waiting for my review/acceptance.  When I did the test there are 221 transactions in the same situation.

Looks like you have done enough testing to show this is reproducible. Quicken appears to have missed some logic steps when trying to fix the red flag issue. The cash account is created by Quicken to overcome limitations in investment accounts for supporting certain cash transactions typically used in checking accounts. If you search this forum, you will see it gets screwed up from time to time when trying to fix a download issue.  Either All downloaded transactions need to be reviewable in the investment account register before being split off to the fake cash account or they need to re-activate the tab to review the cash transactions in the cash account register. If scheduled transactions are going to work with the cash transactions, they almost certainly need to re-activate the tabs in the linked cash account register.

As a workaround, until it gets fixed, you should set the account in Account Details to automatically accept downloaded transactions. That way your other accounts won't be impacted and you can still review them.  You should also contact support to formally get the fix in process.

Your welcome. You might also consider signing up for beta testing. It's obvious no one using a linked cash account tested this or that Quicken slipped in a change after the beta concluded. If all you did was check linked cash account functionality, it would be a big help. You also might learn a few more things about Quicken in the process.

I, too, am having the same problem. Spent a few hours with Support staff yesterday who offered up (1) the "Automatically accept downloaded transactions" workaround described above to get access to the transactions stuck in the ether (that worked), (2) to turn off the auto download switch because from that point forward transactions would download an be visible in the investment account register, and (3) that the transactions reviewed in the investment account register, once Accepted, would appear in the cash account register. Sorry to say that did not happen. The change/bug from the pre-R11 update still exists.

I'm having the same problem with Quicken Premier 2016.  Right after I updated to R11, the "Downloaded Transactions" and "Bill
and Income Reminders" tabs for my primary checking account disappeared.
The account is linked to an investment account, and the tabs are still
visible for that account. However checking account transactions haven't
shown up there in the past, and they don't now. I've tried resetting all
the register options then setting them back, including toggling "Automatically accept downloaded transactions" on and off, and running the R11 Mondo
Update, but neither has fixed the issue.

    I'm running Windows 10 (version 1511, build 10586.753) in a Parallels Desktop 12 VM (version 12.1.3 build 41532).

I'm having the same issue with downloaded transactions, plus one other annoying issue. When I go to type in the transaction category, the "type ahead" feature no longer seems to work. Prior to this update, when I typed in the second (or subsequent) character of my Category, Quicken would refine the search and automatically highlight the Category that I wanted. Now, when I type the second (or subsequent) character, Quicken selects a Category that begins with those letters. This results in "bouncing" around the Category list without getting the Category that I wanted.

I am also having the same issue.  I just logged Chat Case # 00603284 with Rep Marco and he and I tried a number of troubleshooting tips before I found this thread.  PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!!!!

I am having the same problem.  Very annoying.  I am on Quicken 2016 Premier / Win 10.  Problem started after R11 install.  Is there a way to roll back the R11 and go back to R10?

Is anyone in Quicken Support following up on this issue? We can all see from earlier posts that Quicken Tamara has had her eyes on, but how can we know if any progress can/will be made?

Yes, there is. I had to do that because R11 messed up my cloud beyond repair.  Just uninstall Quicken, then reinstall it (make sure to click Cancel as soon as installation is complete and updating to the latest version starts).  Then go to the support page and download and install the standalone R10 mondo patch.

I'll throw in a "me too."  Been messing with this for hours!!!  I've used Quicken since 1992 and it all too often breaks things.
Quicken: please give us a crumb... working on it? Any idea when fix? How about a way to roll back to R10? How about making it easier to find the fact that it's broken and don't bother trying to do a restore.

So I scheduled a call with quicken support to discuss. The first thing the tech said was tha linked checking accounts never had a downloaded transactions tab. I started screaming at him and when I was done he sent me a link to the r10 version though he said it wouldn't work. I'm traveling for a few days but will try it when I get home. If I can get it to work I'll post with instructions. Don't want to post until I try first

Technically he is correct... the investment account does the download, but the transactions show up in the linked checking account. So, he is telling half the truth and he is still mistaken. :) :)

Please do post the R10 link. Can't wait to roll back..,

I had the same problem of the flag not getting reset and the payment was stuck in the on-line center. As soon as I checked "Automatically accept downloaded transactions", my stuck payments posted and the flag was reset. Thanks for the tip, I had spend many hours tying to fix this by uninstalling Q 2106 R11 and reinstalling. This certainly is a bug that needs to get fixed. I sure would like to undue R11 update but can't find a way to do that.

Having the same issue with linked investment and checking accounts after I updated Quicken 2016 Premier to v11. Both accounts have a red flag indicating there are downloaded transactions to review. The investment account shows the Downloaded Transactions tab at the bottom of the account register (including tabs for Bill and Income Reminders as well as Placeholder Entries), there are no transactions in the list and there is a Continue button. When the Continue button is selected it jumps into the checking account register. That seems to be typical behavior for linked accounts. However, at the bottom of the checking account the tabs for Downloaded Transactions, Bill and Income Reminders, and Placeholder Entries is not visible/selectable and the downloaded transactions can not be reviewed and accepted. I've performed a FIle/Copy operation and went thru the validation exercise to no avail. Sounds like rolling back to v10 may be the way to go until this gets resolved.

Only Quicken can fix it with a patch release but in the meantime, a workaround is to set your Edit>Preferences>Downloaded transactions for investment accounts to automatically add transactions.

I'm observing an identical issue.  I was able to work around it by manually entering the missing transaction, and then toggling the option to automatically add downloaded transactions.  That caused my manual entry to change to a "newly matched" state and cleared the flag.  Then, I un-checked the boxes so that I can manually review transactions in the future.  I'm also interested in rolling back to R10 if at all possible since this breaks my daily Quicken workflows.

You probably didn't have to enter the transactions manually.  The toggling of the automatic entry mode should have done it.

This problem was first introduced in Quicken 2017 R2 see this thread:
    https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/quicken-2017-doesnt-show-downloaded-transactions

It was fixed in R3.  But it seems that when they merged code from Quicken 2017 to Quicken 2016 R11 to change the Online Bill provider, they accidentally merged in this bad code that was in Quicken 2017 R2.

As for going back to Quicken 2016 R10, you do need to take into consideration that if you have any Online Bills setup, you probably should delete them before switching back, because going from the new Online Bills provider to the old Online Bills provider isn't tested (and probably will mess up).

You will need to uninstall Quicken and then reinstall with your Internet connection disconnected so that it can update.  Then quit Quicken and download and install the R10 patch install from here:

I agree.. I also completed downloads and accepted transactions before applying the patch.  Quicken needs to fix this.  The workarounds are not good.
