I own a stock and when I downloaded the transaction to quicken, the transaction type was "Stock Merge" and the units owned was increased from 23 to 29.4675. Then there's another transaction to adjust the .4975.

1 . How am I going to enter a change company stock name when the units held increased from 23 to 29.4675?

2. How am I going to sell the 0.4675 units as units in stocks are kept in whole numbers? If I enter this transaction (.4675) as Sell, it shows my total stock holdings as 29.4675 and not 29. I can't get rid of 0.4675.

Help!

Thanks,

Marlon

If that is really all there is to the transaction, then I would

A). ignore (delete) the downloaded transaction

    B) enter a corporate acquisition transaction where the new company acquires the old company for a ratio that approximates the 29.4975 / 23 ratio,

    C) sell the resultant fractional share 0.4975) for the cash-in-lieu amount received.

Ps. It is generally helpful if you identify the company so that we might be able to point you to a related discussion or determine if other factors might be in play.
