Update....as of 10-28-2017, latest version is NOT in the app store, and I'm stuck with a laptop that cannot open my file due to the required unavailable update.  Will most likely never buy this thru the app store again.

Greg, Quicken 2017 is no longer for sale, therefore it can't be in the Mac App Store, and therefore can't receive updates through Apple. But there's an easy solution Quicken provides for updating your version of Quicken (and converting it from an App Store version to a Quicken retail version, so all future update notices and downloads will come directly from Quicken). Visit this Quicken page for instructions on how to download and use the Quicken Utility to accomplish this.

Glad to see Quicken updated this tool.

The interesting thing is that the new Quicken (2018) is NOT available in the App Store. Maybe it's just because it hasn't passed Apple's approval yet... or maybe Quicken has decided the inconveniences to them, and their customers, of using the App Store aren't worth it.

I'm not sure the MAS has any way to deal with a product that's considered a subscription vs. a one time purchase.

@RickO, there are ways for it to be done, but Apple is still taking out its 30% fee, plus requiring a different build of each release, and delaying each release to go through their QC procedures -- any or all of which may have been reason enough for Quicken to decide it's not worth the hassle of selling through the App Store anymore.

I hope that's what Quicken decided. Fewer questions about slow updates and finding one's data file for us to answer. :-)

What is the 6-digit Code?  Maybe it means 16-digit Code?  That I have, on the CD.

Bob, it's not clear what you're responding to here, but if you are being asked for a 6-digit code, usually that is an authentication code that is texted to the cell phone number you associated with your Quicken ID.

I don't use a Cell Phone.  Instead I request to get the 6-digit code by email.

But it Never Comes.  (I check my Spam folder, too.)

I use Quicken "just" to keep a record of my Checking Account.  Installed is Quicken 2018, but it is Useless to me without that Code.  :-(  [What a Shame.]

Please help, if you can?  Thank you.

It sounds like the email address associated with your QuickenID is incorrect. You need to contact Quicken Support (http://quicken.com/contact-support) so they can get your QuickenID configured correctly.

No App Store, no purchase or updating. Get it into the App Store and store with the non App Store approach. The writing is on the wall and all things point to App Store only, just like iOS. It isn't about slower updates and finding one's data file: those are intentionally not suppose to be user issues in the model of the App Store. Quicken simply needs to update it processes to support the new App Store model... just like iOS.

No, macOS and iOS are very different animals. More and more developers are pulling out of the Mac App Store for the reasons cited above. Directly installed apps are not going away any time soon in macOS.
