lifeyield tax optimizer

LifeYield Tax Optimizer popped up in my Quicken 2018 R7.5 update last week, and looked interesting. I was going to look more seriously at it today but it seems to have disappeared since the subsequent Quicken update to the current build.

Can somebody tell me where I might find it in Quicken, and if its gone, is it gone for good?

That is interesting.  I seemed to remember a Quicken email a month or so ago indicating LifeYield would be discontinued from Quicken.  I don't remember the date.  The email suggested that current users contract directly with the company that owns it.  Thought it was odd to receive an email from Quicken, although it looked legit.

I received the following in an email on March 20.

It appears they have jumped the gun on shutting down access from Quicken.

Dear Quicken Customer, imageimageThe LifeYield Tax Optimizer, available in Quicken Premier and Quicken Home, Business & Rental Property, will no longer be available in Quicken as of May 1, 2018.

If you rely on this tool, a new and improved version for financial advisors called Proposal Advantage® will be available directly from LifeYield. Proposal Advantage is used by some of the world’s largest financial institutions and uses LifeYield's new Taxficient Score® and can help guide you to lower taxes on investments. To find out more, please visit the LifeYield web site for more information.

You do not need to take any action as a result of this change and it will have no impact on your Quicken data.

@Quicken Harold, The Tax Optimizer appears to be gone now, almost a month earlier than stated in the email referenced above. I did not use the Tax Optimizer regularly, but I would have thought that Quicken would have kept it available until the promised date.

Before you close this thread, is there any response from the Quicken team on that?

I went to the LifeYield website as instructed in the email, but it appears that they have re-positioned it as a tool for financial advisers and I did not see any way for an individual to access it or any information for migrating Quicken users.

    Hello Jim,

If it is a 3rd party product, which this is, they have control over the shutdown of their services. Unfortunately, that is out of our hands.

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

    It apparently still exists here:
    https://www.quickensso.com/Portal/Home/SocialSecurityOptimizer_Landing

I know this because I just received a renewal notice that they charged $9.99 to my credit card. I'm pretty sure I did not sign up for automatic renewal. I've emailed them to cancel.

And to their credit (heh), they reversed the charge immediately.

OK, so I just noticed the different names: Tax Optimizer vs. Social Security Optimizer. It's been a full year since I was looking at this, and I forgot what it was.

@Jim Harman the information about Tax Optimizer has been removed from Quicken, however, the tool is available on the Tax Optimizer website for existing users.  We removed this from Quicken early, because we don't want new users to sign up only to be disappointed when it's discontinued in a few days.  Social Security Optimizer, also with LifeYield, is still in Quicken.
