Q2018Mac Investment graph

William DayWilliam Day Member ✭✭
Today Q2018Mac v5.6.0 was released and installed.  Is there any way to designate the low & high value for the Y-axis of the investment graph?  Preferably I would like the Y-axis to automatically reflect the low and high value of my investments for the timeframe selected (YTD, 1 Year, etc.).

I agree.  This change makes the investment graph virtually useless to me.  Quicken use to adjust the y axis to near the low and one could evaluate the market changes to the accounts, now that Quicken has gone to a zero Y axis value.  This is totally unacceptable.  Totally.  Quicken must allow us to choose the minimum y axis value.  What they have just done is worse than disgusting.

Per Quicken Marcus under the improvements in v5.6.0:

The number of shares can display more than 3 decimal places and the Y-Axis always starts at zero. This was a request from our CEO.

I'm guessing you can thank Eric Dunn, CEO of Quicken Inc for messing with your investment graph.

Then I would suggest CEO Eric Dunn either has no investments OR he does not himself use Quicken.  Perhaps he can respond?

I concur.  The Y-axis of the Investment Chart should reflect the LOW & HIGH range of the investment; NOT 0 to whatever.

Today's release of Q2018Mac (V5.6.0) destroyed a useful feature of the Investment Graph.  Prior to v5.6.0 the Y-Axis showed values from the starting value to the current value (i.e.. in YTD presentation, Jan 1 value to today's value).  This was very helpful.  V5.6.0 now sets the Y-Axis from 0 to today's value irrespective of the time frame.  In my case the graph shows basically a straight line in spite of several significant dips- not very helpful.

Sounds like this mandate from their CEO (see note from Marcus) needs to be reconsidered.

this is not an issue of number of shares; it is an issue of the VALUE of the investment. The Y-axis of the Investment Chart should reflect the LOW & HIGH Value range of the investment; NOT 0 to whatever.

I agree   very disappointed to see what they have done to the graph.  My investments YTD appear to be pretty flat according to the graph  I wish that was the case but iTD AMERITRADE says otherwise.  Just when I was starting to give some Kudo's to the MAC version of Quicken too

I agree as well. The new investment graph is useless. It should be fixed immediately.

Marcus needs to pick up on the fact that we must be able to select the lower value of the y axis.  For example, a couple of months ago my Scottrade accounts were moved to TD Ameritrade.  That meant as of basically Jan. 1st I had 4 accounts that were zero the day before and full value the next day.  That means that even Quicken's Old design showed a zero as the low and leaves a relatively flat line ever since.  Marcus, GIVE us the ability to set our own upper and lower y-axis values!!!!!!!!!

I believe that us selecting the Y-axis values in Preferences presents additional issues.
If one selects the Y-axis values for the entire Portfolio of Investment Accounts (lets say $500,000 to $1,000,000, that would probably not work if one decided to looking at a individual accounts whose value was less than $500,000 (one would probably have to alter the range to see that account's graph.

With respect to moving accounts to a different Broker, perhaps initiating a 'sell' in the 'from' brokerage account and a 'buy' in 'to' brokerage account on the same day might prevent the balance from going to $0.00 while the real money was in-transit?  Just a thought.

Personally, I would still prefer that Quicken set the Low & High values for each account being graphed based upon its Low & High Value as well as the entire Investment Portfolio.  Just a thought.

    Should be two options:

    1 Y axis is zero
2 Y axis range is Low vs High values

    That way everyone wins.
