Home Quicken for Mac Errors and Troubleshooting (Mac)

How do I close an account (CD that Matured) in Quicken for Mac?

Unknown Member
I am trying to close two accounts in Quicken 2017 for Mac but do not see an obvious/friendly way to do this. One is a mortgage loan, and one is a CD that matured. The big issue for me is it keeps giving me an error message when trying to connect to these accounts online (as they no longer exist), and I am starting to get annoyed by the error message.

Open the account's settings (menu Accounts > Settings), click the Troubleshooting tab, then Deactivate Downloads.

Then you may want to hide the account in Lists, Reports or Both (menu Accounts > Hide & Show Accounts).

This does not close the account and it continues to show up, most particularly in the Mobile app.

Have you gone to Preferences > Mobile, Web & Alerts and unchecked the account there?

Another option would be to delete the account completely.

Yes, and the accounts still are listed under "hidden" in the Mobile app, with an amount. And it I click on them, they show "active" as their status.

I'm not a mobile user, so I have no direct experience with it.

The only thing that comes to mind as a workaround would be to create a new account, not synced to mobile. Then drag and drop all the transactions from the old account to the new one, then delete the old account.
