Version advice

I have been using Quicken Home and Business Windows 2015 for Canada and would like to update to a current version. I track chequing, savings accounts, loans, and investments. I do not use any of the business features (have Quickbooks for that) but I do want to be able to download mutual fund prices. Which version do I need - Starter, Deluxe or Home and Business?

Starter won't work for you ... it doesn't handle investments.
Re: which other product, I'd suggest that you go here, and review the various products offered: https://www.quicken.com/

OOPS, Sorry, I should have directed you to the Cdn page: https://www.quicken.com/canada/compare

Canadian Quicken just changed to Starter, Deluxe and H&B.

Assuming that they match up against the US editions, Deluxe should work for you, as Premier/H&B just adds bells, whistles and analysis tools for investments above Deluxe, but Deluxe does all of the other stuff for investments.

Hopefully one of the Cdn users will chime in.

I do the same functions and Deluxe is sufficient for me.

I use H&B, but I readily admit that it is rather unclear to me exactly what investment features in H&B are not in Deluxe. I'd welcome a detailed explanation. The Canadian version is dissimilar from the US version(s) in this regard because, for example, tools like Portfolio X-Ray are not supported in the Canadian version. These makes it all the more unclear exactly, with respect to investments, what additional features H&B has over Deluxe.

According the Quicken's Canadian website, only H&B is "best" for investments. Furthermore, Quicken's website indicates that only H&B has the "Improved portfolio analysis with buy and hold comparison" feature. I'd love for someone to point out that feature to me in the Canadian version. I consider myself a power user and I don't know that feature. Until someone points out that feature to me in the Canadian version, I'm running with my theory that is a copy/paste error from marketing of the US version. I'm more than open to learning new tricks though....

That's what I thought but I was a little put off by the version comparison that shows Deluxe as being "best for tracking" Spending and Savings Goals but not "Investments" or "Business". I guess that just means that it doesn't have any fancy investment analysis tools - I don't need those, just want to be able to track transactions.

Oops, should have refreshed the page - I hadn't seen the comments above. Sounds like Deluxe is all I need.

You can always purchase Deluxe and if it doesn't do what you want, then get a refund and purchase H&B.

Good, that is confirmation that Cdn Deluxe handles investments from an actual user.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I would still welcome a specific explanation of the differences in the investment management capabilities of QC Deluxe and QC H&B. The Quicken Website suggests that the differences are significant. I'd like to understand whether that is true and what are the specific differences.... especially the buy and hold analysis feature. whatever that is.
