Quicken Files mixup

I have the most recent Mac Quicken paid for one year about two months ago but I have surprisingly received and disregarded two reminders that it is not paid.

This is not, however, the reason for my query.  Quicken has become much more difficult to decipher! I want to know where my Quicken file is located as my Open Recent in File shows two possibilities: “Quicken2018File.quicken” (15.1 MB)  and “Yves’s Finances.quicken” (2.7 MB).

Quicken Version 5.9.2 (Build 59.25153.100)  Mac  macOS 10.14.2

Questions:

1) I should have only one Quicken File, not two, I assume?

2) Why is it called 2018 now and not 2019?

3) Can I send file “Yves’s Finances.quicken” to the trash without risks?

    Hello Angapmac,

The file is labeled 2018 because that's part of the file name.

To change it go to File and Rename.

The quickest way to locate Quicken files is to Open Quicken and select Show your file's name in finder.

The files can also be found by opening Finder and Selecting the Go menu at the top of the screen.

Hold down the OPTION key on the keyboard, there a Library option will appear under Home.

From there select Application Support and then look for Quicken.

The Quicken files are located under Documents.

    Hope this helps!

    Hello angapmac. Appreciate your question.

Quicken Tyka answered your first question, let me answer the other two:

    2) The reason that Quicken for Mac is now called 2019 instead of 2018 is because of the file updates. The Quicken for Mac version changed from 2018 to 2019 starting with version 5.9.1 and continues to this day. It still is the original Quicken program but with enhancements and fixes.

    3) If you know that the Yves' Finances does not have newer data in it, you can remove it from the Documents folder, with the directions provided by Quicken Tyka.

Hope this answers your other questions.

    Respectfully,
    ~ Quicken Harold.

Yves's Finances is the default name that Quicken gives a new file made by Mac user Yves. The other file was likely manually named.  I would use Open Recent to open each of those files. See which one has your correct data. Then delete the other one. More likely the larger file is the good one.
