Must I save reports - isn't it automatic?

Is the dropdown menu of previous reports only a reminder? Is it necessary to √ Save as Custom Report?

    Hello Gotom. Appreciate your question.

You are correct with the statement that the Dropdown menu does show the reports that you have made. The option to Save as Custom Report is if you made any changes to the original built-in reports within Quicken.

    Respectfully,

Let me amend what Quicken Harold wrote above, as it's only partially correct. Yes, you are right that there is no need to save a report after you create it. Also, there is no need to save a report if you have made any changes in Customize -- your report will be saved, automatically, with the latest dates and filters.

But Save as Custom Report is more than just a way to save changes to built-in reports; it's how you save changes to, or alternate versions of, any report. Think of Save as Custom Report as a "Save As..." for reports.

Let's say you've create a report of all your credit card-only transactions for 2018, in a report called "Credit Card 2018 Report". Now you want a similar report for 2019. If you change the dates in your existing report to 2019, then your report called "Credit Card 2018 Report" will now be producing 2019 results -- not what you want. So instead, change the dates and click on Save as Custom Report; name it "Credit Card 2019 Report", and you'll be set. You'll see in your reports menu that you now have both the 2018 and 2019 reports, each using the appropriate date filters you set.

I must have hit a bug in the program as running on my system Mojave 10.14.2 as I can
invoke no reports at all from the dropdown list.

    Update: Reports is working again.

Thank you both for giving me a better understanding how Reports works!
