Cannot Purchase Quicken Deluxe Canadian Version

WarningU2WarningU2 Member ✭✭
My current Cdn version of Home and Business expires next month.  After verifying with Quicken Premium Support that I could downgrade to the Cdn Quicken Deluxe version (as I don't use any of the business related features), I attempted to do that this morning.   I want to save a bit of money.

However,  it appears that I cannot purchase the Cdn Deluxe version when I sign in with my existing Quicken ID.    It reverts me to the US version for purchase.

I do not want to create a new Quicken ID, in case that impacts my current operating id (with the same email).

My current Quicken ID is working fine with my Cdn banks.   I am able to download transactions and import into Quicken Home and Business (Canada).

So ... How may I purchase the Quicken Deluxe version?

Why does it not allow me to checkout the Cdn version when I sign in?   It diverts to the US version of the website.   It appears to be a bug with your website setup.

If it is necessary to create a new Quicken ID to do this ... Can I setup a new Quicken ID using my current email address?

To eliminate questions on how I am navigating I've included a short video so you can see hosted on my website:

http://warner-home.com/Files/quickenissue1.mp4

I am using the latest chrome on windows 10 1803.

Any help appreciated.

Of course after I entered this topic I think I may have solved it.

It would appear you cannot use the normal purchase links if you are an existing client.   You need to use the change plan button from you Cdn account (already signed in to your account)  When you click on Change Plan it gives you the option to "downgrade".    Ideally, I think the standard website should detect this and bring you to the same place if you have an active subscription but perhaps I'm expecting too much.

Since my sub doesn't expire until Feb 20th I'm going to leave this for now.   But I would like confirmation from anyone here if they have ever done this.

    Hello WarningU2,

I would like to add that the Canadian website can be found at https://www.quicken.com/canada/.

Any email links will go directly to the US site because they're typically for US promotions unless otherwise specified.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @ WarningU2 ,

If you can, you might wish to use your current Quicken copy of Quicken Home and Business in manual mode until March, 2019, then buy Quicken again as a New User.

Also, note, you do not need to uninstall and reinstall Quicken, after you purchase Quicken, dimply click on Help, then click Enter Activation Code, in order to Reactivate Quicken.

While in Manual Mode all downloads stop.

You could also buy as a New Member from: https://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_1_7/141-4581789-1233647?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keyw...

The Activation Codes for Quicken 2018 Products, do not expire.
The Activation Codes for Quicken 2019 Products, do expire.

Also note, you could buy from amazon.ca, now and just don't enter the Activation Code, until after Quicken expires.

You have Premium Support of Quicken until Feb. 20, 2019, so you can ask them as well.

Premium Support is available for free with Premier and Home and Business only for Free.

Premium Support is not included with Quicken Deluxe.

P.S. With Amazon.ca, you are buying Quicken 2018 Product with a 27-month Subscription, but it counts down from the day you Activate Quicken, not from the day, you purchase from Amazon.ca.

If you activate Quicken on March 1, 2019, the Subscription runs to June 1st or June 2nd, of 2021.

    Thank you for that suggestion.

Yes I know where the Cdn version is but why doesn't the purchase option select Canada if that is the profile of my Quicken ID? That is the root cause of this confusion Tyka.

Tyka, that's very disappointing to read. Quicken knows that I own the Canadian version of the software, so why send me emails with US promotional links? I just re-read the email, including all the fine print, and there is nothing in the email that I received indicating the promotion is only for US customers.

I just posted https://getsatisfaction.com/quickencommunity/topics/email-alert-quicken-connected-services-expire-ap... about my customer experience that is specifically related to this issue.

I'm a long time user since the DOS days who is very definitely on the fence as to whether or not I'll continue to use Quicken when my Quicken 2016 Home & Business reaches sunset at the end of April.

Receiving misleading emails with promotions that don't apply to me is disheartening, if not dishonest.

Have to agree.    Note:   My username WarningU2 password was reset by admin here and I have not been able to use as it is not assoc with my email address anymore.   So I had to create this username and assoc with another email address I have.   Have a feeling that Quicken is falling apart.    Not sure I will renew at all now.   It might be safer to go back to Excel spreadsheets to keep track of my finances
