How to restore Accounts and data after hard drive failure

I have used Quicken for all banking transactions from 1996 to present. All transactions have been manually inputted and I have never used the cloud. Up to 2014, QFD backup files were saved a CD disk. After that my backups were saved to my computer’s hard drive (I know, stupid) which hard drive mechanically failed 3 months ago. I paid greatly to have the backup files copied (through October 2018) from the drive’s innards. A new clean copy of Windows 10 was reinstalled on my new hard drive, along with a re-installation of my 2017 Quicken Deluxe. I have not found info on how to use the QFD backups on the new installation of Quicken. I need a step-by-step on how to recreate the Accounts and the entries there under on the new, unused, re-installation of Quicken.

    GeoffG,
You are too good! And I thank you for your time and kindness: It worked perfectly! And instantaneously! What a relief. External hard drive will be attached tomorrow. I got lazy and paid the price. But you helped to get out me of it, with a lot a data that is very import to me.
By the way, do you know what a data file ending in 'OFXLOG.DAT' means? Is it a Quicken file that I should know about and use? Or was it just something left on the hard drive that recovery data company sent dealing with their recovery?
You are getting BIG Karma points for your efforts.

Glad it worked out.  The OFXLOG.DAT file will get recreated as needed when you go online, so the one file you restored is all that's needed.

We all have different backup strategies.... my Quicken data goes way back, and is important to me as it has EVERYTHING.
Therefore, I have the local /Quicken_Files/backup/ folder,
and then the additional prompt for Backups, which I also have on the same hard drive...
BUT..... then every week - I backup my full /MY DOCUMENTS/  folder to alternating 2TB external USB drives.

Good advice. Yep. I learned my lesson by getting lazy and  paying the price. Now have 2 computers in sinc, with an external drive back up. Hope others learn from my not paying attention and my mistakes. I was lucky to have GeoffG of the community to respond and guide me thru to the answer. Hope you other knowledgeable angels out there keep helping the other of us that are not exactly luddites, but do not know how to get out of problems. We use our programs, but do not know how to get out of problems as we do not encounter them often.
Thanks to you and the community.

Sounds like you have business going, and your safety procedures are really top notch. I retired from law and have gotten sloppy. Good for me to be reminded about what is important.
    Thanks.
