Font size on the investing registers (4 Merged Votes)

Why hasn't a solution been designed to increase the font size in the investment registers. They are too small compared to the other (Banking) registers.

I know that only the font for non investment accounts can be changed and enlarged to help the visually challenged. I'm a subscription member and I'm also one of those people who are so challenged. I suggest that the capability to change the font be expanded to all the other aspects of Quicken, generically, and in particular to the Reconciliation screen (where the numbers are quite small). It would of course help me, but it would tend to make Quicken available to be used by a wider audience, at little cost except a software upgrade. Please pass on this comment to any place where you think it may do any good. Thanks,

Give more flexibility in registers by allowing users to choose their own favorite fonts and font size...1

Do you really think we need more than are already available?
Select Edit > Preferences...

Those are not available in the Investment register...1
-
The above Fonts choices only apply to banking registers ...it would be very helpful, if these choices could be made to also apply to
- investment account registers
- the Account Bar
- all other views, graphs and report previews
- all popup windows
- all menu bars
- all text displayed in Quicken anywhere else.

Agree...there really needs to be a sizing option for the Account column font size as there is for the Register side. I've been using Quicken since the late 80's, so I just don't understand why this is such a difficult "line of code" change for Quicken Mac (i.e., if you can do it for one column, why not the other?)-1

@anapu,
This Product idea is for the Windows version of Quicken. There is a separate section of the forum for Mac ideas.
In QWin, you can make all the display fonts larger by selecting View > Use Large Fonts, but not with the same degree of control as you get in the Banking registers.QWin Premier subscription0 -
(Removed-Violation of Community Guidelines) I figured out a manual workaround, but being able to easily read the balances would have been helpful.1

Having a mouse that allows you to magnify the screen helps with the small text. You can define how much of the screen gets magnified and the magnification factor (x150, x200, etc), all at the push of a button. Not a fix, but a helpful workaround.1

just want to add to the chorus here. When I started using Quicken 20 years ago I could see the investment register easily, not so much today. It would be extremely helpful to be able to adjust the font size of my investment portfolio register.1

I used to upgrade to a new edition every other year. You changed your business model to a subscription service and boasted how many improvements you are continually making. The ability to change font sizes is now limited to the banking registers only. This issue was identified last February and is still not fixed. I'm not a programmer but it seems to me that if you can change the font size on one set of registers, how hard is it to program the following modules to do the same thing?
investment account registers
the Account Bar
all other views, graphs and report previews
all popup windows
all menu bars
all text displayed in Quicken anywhere else.
I have been a Quicken user since 1991. I do not need more occasional reminders from you on how good your product is and all the improvements you are making. I would like to see more effort put into fixing issues that are causing problems being fixed on a timely basis. Under consideration since November 2019. I think you could do better than that.
Thanks for you time.1 -
I'm having this problem, too. Quicken 2017 was fine on my laptop screen, but the new improved subscription version has some font sizes huge and others tiny. How to fix this?0

Font size problems? Display issues? (Windows)
If you are using a version of Quicken at the Quicken 2019 US R 19.44 patch level or newer and you have previously made the following Compatibility change, please undo the change.
Users of other Quicken versions please try the following:- Close Quicken !!! (This process won't work while Quicken is running!)
- Check the Compatibility tab settings in your Quicken Desktop program icon:
- In the Windows Start Menu
right-click the Quicken icon. Select "Open File Location". This
brings up a Windows File Explorer window. Right-click the highlighted
Quicken shortcut line item.
or - Go to the traditional Windows Desktop and right-click the Quicken program icon.
- Now click Properties.
- Select the Compatibility tab.
- Uncheck all settings.
- Windows 7, 8.1: Check
"Disable display scaling on high DPI settings".
Windows 10: Check "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:" and select "Application" (also try the other available options repeating the entire procedure!) - Be sure to uncheck the "Run this program in compatibility mode for [older Windows version]" setting.
- Click the "Change settings for all users" button.
- Click Apply and exit.
- Now start Quicken and see if that makes a difference.
Some additional tuning suggestions:
- Try this workaround for 4k
monitors
https://www.quicken.com/support/work-around-display-issues-high-resolution-monitors - Unless absolutely required, try not to use "View / Use large fonts"
- Try setting the bank account registers to use a different font style or size: go to Edit / Preferences / Register, click the Fonts button and try different fonts.
- Try adjusting the bank account registers' row height: go to Edit / Preferences / Register, choose among the available Row Height choices: Compact, Comfortable or Standard
- If all else fails, try changing Windows Control Panel / Display options for "Make text and other items … smaller or larger" to use a different scaling level.

I absolutely agree the investment registers should allow the font size, and possibly font choice, to be changed. On high resolution monitors, the font size for accounts and stock / mutual funds are way too small.1

I'm straining to read the investment register. WHEN WILL QUICKEN ALLOW USERS TO CHANGE THE FONT SIZE? Also, it would be nice to be able to change the "width" of the account bar so that, if necessary, selecting "large font" allows the account name and balance to show. I know these requests have been made for several months. When will there be a solution?0

The width of the Account Bar can be changed. Slowly move the cursor across the dividing line between the Account Bar and the register view. When the pointer changes to "<=>" click, hold and drag the left mouse button to the desired width. When using "large font" and/or the Quicken window gets a little crowded, you can temporarily close the Account Bar, to make more space available for the register view within your Quicken window. Use the F11 - key to toggle Full Screen Mode on and off.0 -
Sherlock said:There are a lots of feature differences between the banking registers and the investing transaction lists.IIRC, they started out with the same code and then diverged. There are still visible remnants of when transaction lists were called registers.

@Quicken_Tyka This feature has been implemented so the status can be changed.
And thanks to all involved!Signature:
