How can I get two users to access one qdf?

I have been using quicken for 20 years. For much of that time, we have had one computer with a login for me and for my wife. We could both access the qdf files from either login and work in them. Recently, I purchased Quicken Premier 2020 Windows version and when I try to open the qdf file on my wife's login, I get the following message "Quicken cannot open the data file because it is read-only or you do not have permission to open it. Do you want to copy it to a different location and open it from there?"

Of course I don't. I want to open it from either user on the computer. Is there a permission somewhere that I can activate? or some other approach?

The folder that the Quicken data file is owned by one of the Windows user accounts, you need to make sure that the other Windows user account has full read/write/delete privileges to that folder.

This is something that needs to be fixed/changed in Windows.

just to clarify here -
do you mean the Windows User login

OR the Quicken User Account ID login

Also - what was your previous Quicken version - prior to the recent 2020 version.

Move your Quicken folder to C:\Users\Public\Documents.
