opening quicken

When I click on the quicken icon the app doesn't open. A red box appears on the screen for a second(it says Quicken Starter Edition). Nothing else happens. I've tried restarting but that didn't help. Any ideas...

    Try holding down the CTRL key while you click on the Q PROGRAM icon (NOT a data icon).
    This should cause Q to open with only the FILE and HELP menus available, and an otherwise blank Q screen.
    If that DIDN"T work, you'll need to uninstall Q and install it again:
    If it DID work, do FILE, File Operations, Validate and Repair ... and be sure to click "Validate File" before you click OK.
    If that didn't work, try restoring from progressively older backup files until you find one that works ... and then Validate it.
