How to not show hidden budget subcategories from showing in reports

I have created hidden sub-categories for things like depreciation/appreciation which are not an expenses that require a budget. Example: home value from Zillo. Yet those "expenses" still sum under the category of home expenses. In Quicken 2007 this was not an issue. Excluding it from the budget excluded it from the budget report. Do I need to create a category of "Depreciation" and put all the things under it like home, auto, etc. in as subcategories, hide the whole category in the budget so they do not show as an expense? Is there some other way of accomplishing this?

Are you referring to the actual budget report? If so, go into your budget report, and click "Edit Budget". In the bottom left, there should be a button labeled "Select Categories". Uncheck the categories that you want hidden from the budget report.5

At least in Quicken for Windows, if you want to "hide" depreciation or other similar non-budget transactions, you can create them as "transfers back to the same account". This changes your Net Worth but has no impact on budgeted income or expenses.
For example, in your asset account named "House 123 Elm St", record your appreciation / depreciation as if it was a transfer to "[House 123 Elm St]".
