Select Payees & Rules on the Window menu. Scroll, or use the Search box, to find the Payee you want to edit. Click the Payee name to highlight it and then click the pencil icon at the bottom of the window. Edit the payee name and click Done. This will update the Payee name in all the instances it appears in your registers.

Even better, let's say you have both the possessive and non-possessive spelling of a Payee scattered through your register, like Lowes and Lowe's, and you want to make them all consistently the non-possessive spelling. Edit Lowe's to be Lowes, and when you click Done, Quicken will tell you "A payee names 'Lowes' already exists. Do you want to merge this see with the existing payee named 'Lowes'?" You can cancel if that's not what you expected, or click Merge Payees if that's what you'd like it to do.

  • For example, I have payees with the possessive plural ( 's ) endings and want to change it to the singular for consistency.
