Renamed Security - now a mess

I thought I was being "clever" and renamed all my securities so they made more sense.

Example, IGM which downloads at "ISHARES TR EXPND TEC SC ETF" I renamed to "IGM - iShares Tech ETF".

Problem is, this seems to have really screwed up Quicken as when I have new transactions, Quicken doesn't show these new names as options (just when I view my portfolio).

Is my "fix" to go through each transaction and go back to the original names? Is there any way to do this in bulk?

Thanks!

Did you change the name of the Security in the actual Security Detail screen ?
    ... Tools --> Security List -->
Any and all transactions merely use the SYMBOL and the name is merely text.

No. I did it from Portfolio, Security Detail View, Edit Security Details.

It looks like doing this made it loose its CUSIP number (see attached).

EDIT ..... added instream screen grab for easier reading...

I suspect changing of the security type from Mutual Fund to Market Index is significant.

WOW...... not sure what would have triggered that with the missing CUSIP...
as we both are using the same Edit Security Details screen...
I usually rename any new security holdings... shorten, or part of brand family, etc.
Any Security with a missing CUSIP is displayed as a "Market Index".
You might look at the "Match with Online" checkbox -
    along with the "Other Info"
where the CUSIP is displayed at the very bottom of the screen.

As mentioned above - did you change the TYPE or just the NAME ?
kind of chicken / egg - which event caused the problem ?

No. I did it from Portfolio, Security Detail View, Edit Security Details.
I would bring up the .... Tools --> Security List
and review all the entries with the missing CUSIP - only certain ones should exist.

    Forgot to mention.....
Can you Restore from a backup prior to your renaming effort.....
and then just catch up on all the downloaded transactions since then....

And, just to emphasize, FXAIX is a MUTUAL FUND.  It's a fund that tracks and index ... but it's still a FUND.
In Q, you can't hold shares/units of an Index ... but you can hold shares in a fund that tracks an index.
