Quicken is changing my custom Check Number to weird characters

I have added a custom check number called DIRDEP. It is to represent direct deposits.
I have noticed that, after closing and reopening Quicken, they have all changed to DIRDúÿÿÿ.
I can do a find/replace all of them and put them back to DIRDEP. However, they revert to gibberish after closing and reopening Quicken. None of my other custom check numbers have the issue. (WEB, eCheck, ATM, INTEREST)

Thanks for taking the time to post in our Community.
I would like to gather some more information to better assist you:
What version/release of Quicken are you using? (You can find that out by going to Help > About Quicken.)
How old is the file that you are working on?
If you haven't already, try performing a Validate and Repair on your file.
1. File > File operations > Copy (DO NOT choose Year End Copy)
2. Leave all settings at their default.
3. Choose Open New Copy
4. In new Copy: File > File Operations > Validate and Repair
5. Check the box for Validate file > OK
6. After the process is finished, the Data Log will appear with the results of the validation. Review this Log for messages pertaining to the quality of your data. Follow provided instructions (if any) to resolve any issues.
7. Close and relaunch Quicken.
Responding with the results will give us better insight with the issue and the next steps to take. Look forward to hearing from you.

It appears that the Validate and Repair resolved the issue. TYVM!!!0

Please be sure to set up Quicken Backup Preferences to create a backup every time you close Quicken.
One can never have enough backups … trust me! BTDTGTS!
