Quicken demands password, but then spins forever

Today (8/30/2020), I open Quicken for Windows. It immediately demands my Quicken ID and password, but when I give them correctly, it just spins forever. I tried the recommended workaround--to change my password--but still I get the forever-spinning blue circle.

Once again I emphasize that I cannot get into the program at all beyond the password dialog, so please don't recommend that I change some setting inside the program--I can't get there from here.

    That apparently worked. Sad that Quicken did not update itself automatically, as it usually does.

    Quicken 28.18 is the latest release.  Quicken R28.23 is a staged release distributed to a limited number of Quicken users.  Quicken evaluates feedback received from users of a staged release to determine if the staged release should be promoted to be the latest release and distributed to all users.
