Undo My Life Away

:) For the love of everything that is good!! It should never be this hard to find a simple undo button. I enter a number over an old number by accident and I hit enter. The old number goes away and the new number is there. OOOPS. I need to undo!!! Where in :) God's green earth is the UNDO.
I am just in a business checking account. It is just me and my business. I need to have lesser restrictions. It is not like I have a board, 7 partners, and I am skimming money of the top!!

Thank you

There is only one very limited undo in Quicken Windows other than restoring from a backup.

    While in the register:
Edit -> Transaction -> Undo delete
    Or right click, Undo delete

And as it suggests it is only for delete (the last one), and it only applies to one transaction being deleted no multiple transactions.

It is not a delete sir. It is just a type in the number and I am undoing it. if I over write a number over another is that considered a "delete" in Quicken?

Where exactly are you typing the number over?

It doesn't sound like you are deleting, it sounds like you are "changing".

I accidentally changed a number. I typed over a number by accident and I hit enter. I thought I was on a new line but I wasn't. I am utterly confused that an UNDO feature is NOT available. Am I wrong?

Other than the undo for one deleted transaction, there isn't any undo in Quicken Windows.  Quicken is a database (and a pretty old one at that) and it writes to the database as soon as you save the transaction.  And unlike a modern database there isn't any way to "unwind" an operation.

You need to either re-enter the transaction or restore from a backup.

On a side note.  Quicken Mac is based on a much more modern database and does have basically an unlimited undo feature.

I am starting to think it was a mistake picking Quicken over QB. I cannot even find sufficient YouTube videos for help. Every time I search Quicken YouTube videos I get QB results back!!!. When I search the Quicken support help on this site, the search words do not return what I asked for. It's like their algorithms are either stupid or there aren't appropriate results so they populate whatever to display something!!

I haven't found the search on here to be very useful, better to just ask a question.

On the other hand Quicken's built in help is pretty good.  There is also information on the Tips & Tutorial tab, and there is a camera icon on the Home tab for some videos.

Personally as a long time users I haven't watched them so I can't say how good they are.  Looking at: https://www.youtube.com/user/Quicken seems to be where these videos are hosted from and yeah it doesn't seem like there are that many.  For the most getting help for Quicken is first and for most in the Help pages (F1), this community, and Quicken support pages/contacting them, which is free.

Also note that the actual support page is:
    https://www.quicken.com/support#contact-support

You state that this "number change" happened in a checking account.
Why can't you simply pull out the appropriate bank statement, identify the correct value and change that transaction again?

I don't think it is a matter of what can be done, it is more a matter of what one expects.  When most programs have an unlimited undo these days, it is just expected, and surprise jumps in when it isn't.

Note that old database programs like Access are the same way.

What you say is true ... but while we wait for Q to make that change (approximately forever until that happens) isn't my way the simplest, most straight forward solution?

    Yes it is.

Quicken will never have fully functional Undo. (Is that the same as "approximately forever"?)
Undo needs to be designed into the program from the start. It cannot be bolted on to an existing program without enough of a rewrite that they might as well start over.
The only reason we can undo a recently deleted transaction is that deletions are only marked as such. It was easy to bolt on a little code to remember the most recently deleted transaction and restore it.
