Is removing the data password really the only way to do scheduled update?

Removing the data file password does not seem to be a smart thing to do to run Scheduled Update. The other thing I was told was leave Quicken open all the time. I would rather not do either so I am stuck doing a manual update. Am I missing something?

The bagent.exe program is not able to open a Quicken file protected by a file password.

Nope, you got it covered.  The file password only keeps out your friends.  Quicken can remove it, so it can't be much of a password system, it sure doesn't encrypt your data.
A screensaver with a password will give you as much protection, IMHO.
