Since Quicken support no longer exists, even for sales related questions... See below

I am asking on behalf of a couple of clients to whom I am recommending Quicken but there is no way to ask anyone at Quicken. Support button is not active, they don't respond to email and no phone # exists any longer. I shouldn't have to and will not pay for premium support just to ask questions about which product they should purchase.

1. Does anyone know what the difference is between Quicken Deluxe and Premium?
2. Are there one-time purchase options available at all anymore or are they all subscription only and if so, what happens if one doesn't renew (i.e. changes their mind or switches to another program). Does it just stop any online functionality but still work on the device, does it stop working altogether and if so does one lose access to the data even if it is in a file saved on the host machine?
3. Are the data files compatible with PC and Mac as are Quickbooks (at least in part - I know there are some issues there)?

Thanks!

Gary

    1. Quicken Premier includes Quicken Bill Pay and priority access to customer support. That's the only difference.

    2. Subscription is the only option now. If you have Deluxe or Premier and you stop subscribing, you can continue to use the program but you lose all the online stuff (downloading & syncing transactions, etc). If you only had the Starter version, then your data becomes read-only.

    3. I don't think the data files are compatible. You can convert from one to the other, but you may lose some data in the process.

Thanks. re: #3. It does say in the link you provided that they can be converted but is rather vague about data loss and it does sound cumbersome. I am trying to find a reasonably priced used Mac so that I can help the client with their project without having to mess around with this.

Sorry, I meant to say thanks for your response, not just thanks about #3!!! Really appreciate your prompt and thorough reply.

Just to fill in a bit more details especially since Windows was mentioned.

On the Support page, turn off your web browser popup blocking.  It is a popup window.  There is "chat" and "phone", there isn't any email support.  "Premium" service only means that if there is a waiting line you will go ahead of the people that don't have Premium support.  And you also get a toll free number.
    Contact Quicken Support

#1 In Quicken Windows there is a lot more differences between Deluxe and Premier in the features (these are features the Mac version doesn't have).  Whereas the Deluxe version is very useable even for investments even though comparison chart on the website suggests otherwise.  In the Premier version there are more investment and tax reports, and there are features like Morning Star X-Ray Portfolio, Zillow estimate downloading, an investment Dashboard, ...

#2 I will add to @Jon's and warn you that for Deluxe and above even though you can use it with the subscription expired, about 25% of the window will be filled with an ad to renew.

#3 As @Jon indicated the two data files aren't compatible, and the conversion is pretty lopsided.  Going from Windows to Mac is pretty complete for the features that Quicken Mac has, but it will not transfer somethings like budgets and saved reports.  On the other hand the conversion from Mac to Windows is much more limited in that you can't import any investment transactions (plus the other things I just mentioned).  I love how the article that they put out says "may result in investment data loss". There isn't any "may" about it, none of it will be imported.

Thanks for filling in the details. Actually, turning off the popup blocker was the first thing I did and I tried in both Chrome (where I don't even have a popup blocker since I hardly ever use it) and Firefox, which is what I usually use. Still nothing. I don't have that problem with any other site that uses popups.

Any anti-virus programs running it that might prevent it?

I just tried this on my Windows machine with MS Edge.  No problem:

Then I tried it on an iPad Pro with Safari and again no problem.  So I'm not sure exactly why you are having problems.  I do know that it is one of the most common complaints on here.
