AMEX (UK) Direct Connect - account gets setup in wrong currency

I'm trying to connect my AMEX cards into quicken and I'm based in UK (though I have accounts in many difference currencies). I have an existing GBP AMEX credit card account that I am manually updating; and want to get it to auto download. When I active Online Services, and click "Link to Existing Account" .... the AMEX account is not on the list of choices (?) . Odd, only a few random old accounts (is this a bug? how do I fix)?

So I figured I'd instead pick "create new account" with a new name and have a second account (annoying but work around for above bug). Quicken then creates the account etc after talking to AMEX.... but it creates it in USD! This is a GBP card. I can't then change the account currency ...

I can't get this to work. Extremely annoying.

AFAIK, Transaction downloading from banks and brokerages outside the US and Canada is not supported. You can only set up these accounts as "offline" (or "manual") accounts.
Some may suggest to download and import QIF files into offline - created accounts, but even that is not supported and not likely going to work.

Actually QIF files will work for the very fact that they have no "currency" in them.  The account currency decides what the "numbers" in the QIF file mean.

And a note about Direct Connect/QFX files.  Quicken US will not allow importing in any other currency.
The Canadian version allows for different currencies in importing QFX files, but has a much more limited list of financial institutions you can download from (Canadian only).  But in reality even though the US version has a larger set of financial institutions, like @UKR said there isn't any support for non US financial institutions.  The very fact that you can setup download is a "fluke" of the fact that there is an overlap with UK financial institutions.

P.S.  You might be interested in my program for conversions to QIF format, including fixing a problem if you get a QIF from a non US financial institution.  QIF isn't a "standard" and as such different countries have used different formats for the date.  Quicken US and Canadian only accept MM/DD/YYYY format.  So you might need to convert that format (in  ImportQIF, Setup -> Non US Date option).
